Job Description

Bala Mandir Kamaraj Trust, established in 1949, is a reputed child welfare organisation in Chennai dedicated to the holistic care, education, and development of children. The Trust provides a nurturing environment for children through its various residential and educational units, ensuring their overall growth, safety, and well-being.

Role Overview



The Senior Accountant will manage and oversee the organisation's financial operations, ensuring accuracy, statutory compliance, and adherence to FCRA and NGO accounting norms. The role requires strong expertise in advanced Excel, auditing, budgeting, financial reporting, Tally, TDS, GST, and team management.

Key Responsibilities



1. Financial Accounting & Reporting



Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual

financial statements

(Balance Sheet, Income & Expenditure, Receipts & Payments). Develop MIS reports and perform data analysis using

Advanced Excel

(pivot tables, lookups, dashboards, advanced formulas).

2. FCRA Compliance



Manage FCRA banking, accounting, and documentation as per the FCRA Act. Prepare FCRA utilisation statements, returns, and support in annual filings. Monitor foreign contribution receipts, utilisation, and reporting.

3. Budgeting & Forecasting



Support in annual budget preparation and fund allocation. Track

Budget vs Actuals

and prepare periodic variance analysis. Provide financial guidance to programme teams for grant utilisation.

4. Audit & Statutory Compliance



Coordinate with internal and external auditors for timely completion of audits. Prepare audit schedules, documents, and ensure compliance with recommendations. Ensure adherence to

Income Tax Act, FCRA, GST as applicable, and organisational policies

.

5. TDS & GST Compliance



Deduct, compute, and file

TDS

as per statutory requirements. Prepare and file monthly/quarterly

TDS returns

, generate Form 16A, and maintain related records. Handle

GST

calculations, input tax credit tracking, and returns filing (if applicable to the organisation). Maintain documentation and ensure compliance with all tax laws and timelines.

6. Donor Reporting & Project Finance



Prepare donor-wise financial statements, utilisation certificates, and grant expenditure reports. Support programme teams with financial monitoring and donor compliance.

7. Team Leadership & Coordination



Lead and mentor junior accountants and accounts assistants. Review entries, authorise payments, and ensure timely closure of accounts. Provide guidance to ensure accuracy and adherence to internal controls.

Key Skills & Competencies



Strong proficiency in

Advanced Excel

Expertise in

Tally ERP

and accounting systems. Thorough knowledge of

FCRA

, NGO accounting, TDS, GST, and statutory norms. Strong understanding of auditing processes and compliance. Excellent analytical, communication, and documentation skills. High level of integrity and attention to detail.

Qualification & Experience



Bachelor's or Master's degree in Commerce / Finance / Accounting. 4-6 years of experience in accounting, preferably in

NGO / development sector

. Hands-on experience in

TDS, GST, FCRA, audits, and donor reporting

. Proven experience in supervising a small accounts team.
