The Senior Accountant is responsible for managing and overseeing the accounting operations of the construction company, including project cost control, vendor payments, payroll, taxation, compliance, and financial reporting. The role ensures accurate recording of financial transactions and supports management with project-wise financial analysis and cash flow planning.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Accounting & Bookkeeping
Maintain day-to-day accounting records in Tally / ERP software.
Prepare and verify journal entries, ledgers, and trial balance.
Ensure accurate posting of site expenses, material purchases, and petty cash.
Reconcile bank accounts, vendor ledgers, and inter-branch transactions.
2. Project Costing & Budget Control
Monitor project-wise expenses and compare against approved budgets.
Track material purchase, consumption, and subcontractor payments for each site.
Coordinate with the project/site team for monthly cost reports and WIP statements.
Identify cost overruns and report variances to management.
3. Vendor & Subcontractor Management
Verify vendor invoices with purchase orders, GRNs, and work completion certificates.
Prepare payment schedules and release payments after due approvals.
Maintain vendor accounts and handle reconciliation periodically.
4. Payroll & Statutory Compliance
Oversee monthly salary processing for staff and site workers.
Ensure timely deduction and payment of PF, ESI, PT, TDS, and GST.
File statutory returns and coordinate with auditors for compliance.
5. Financial Reporting
Prepare monthly MIS, P&L, balance sheet, and cash flow statements.
Support in finalization of annual accounts and audit coordination.
Maintain project-wise profitability and financial analysis reports.
6. Taxation & Audit
Handle GST input/output reconciliation and return filing.
Prepare TDS computation and file returns (24Q, 26Q).
Liaise with auditors for statutory, internal, and project audits.
7. Cash Flow & Fund Management
Plan and manage daily cash flow requirements for sites and vendors.
Coordinate with banks for fund transfers, LC/BG arrangements, and project financing.
8. Coordination & Support
Work closely with procurement, site, HR, and management teams.
Support management with financial data for tendering and cost estimation.
Maintain confidentiality of company financial information.
Qualifications & Experience:
Education:
B.Com / M.Com / MBA (Finance) / CA (Inter) preferred
Experience:
5-10 years of accounting experience in a
construction or infrastructure company
Software Skills:
Tally ERP / SAP / MS Excel / MS Office
Knowledge:
GST, TDS, PF, ESI, Labour Law compliance, Project Costing
Key Skills:
Strong knowledge of construction accounting process
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines
Strong communication and coordination skills
Attention to detail and accuracy in financial data
