Reporting to the Senior Finance Manager, the Senior Accountant will be responsible for overseeing general accounting operations by controlling and verifying our financial transactions and end-to-end financial reporting, including the recording of GL transactions, to meet internal and external reporting requirements in compliance with Group policies and local legislative requirements and ensuring that adequate controls and efficient transaction systems & processes are in place to do this.
Key Responsibilities
Responsibility for timely, effective, and efficient processing of general ledger-related transactions, including journal entries.
Prepare statutory financial statements accurately, on time, and in line with local legislation.
Ensures all general accounting operations activities are completed in an accurate and timely manner according to the agreed schedules with the businesses.
Reconciliation of general ledger accounts and subledgers and performing period end closing activities including accruals, all balance sheet and intercompany account reconciliations including the investigation & resolution of reconciling items
General Ledger accounting, Trial Balance (P&L and Balance Sheet) integrity, raising issues where there is any deviation.
Providing financial, regulatory and tax accounting and reporting.
Perform period and year end closing activities.
Working with business stakeholders to ensure the accuracy and timely capture of all accounting information.
Assisting in the periodic and annual preparation of appropriate tax packs businesses and working with the Group Tax function where applicable to resolve any queries.
Assist with both internal and external audits, conduct regular assessments of key areas of risk and report to Senior Finance Manager as and when necessary.
Prepare monthly and half-yearly reporting deliverables.
Assist in the preparation and monitoring of budgets and financial forecasts.
Keep stakeholders informed of any potential delays or issues.
Work with the compliance team providing financial support for local, state, and federal government tax filings and requirements.
Prepare & collate information required for half-year and annual audit compliance, and work with auditors to ensure smooth progress and no surprises.
Support the implementation of any new enabling technology solutions.
Maintain close relationships with customer/stakeholder groups, providing resolution of issues, and agreeing improvement plans as required.
Review and ensure company policies and procedures are appropriate, effective, efficient and being adhered to pertaining to financial accounting.
Ensure a high-quality compliance and control environment through effective review, monitoring, and control of end-to-end financial accounting processing activities.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Supporting the adaptability and flexibility to facilitate high levels of customer service across the SSC managing working hours where required to cover regional time zones.
Lead a programme of continuous improvement delivery so that best practice is embedded, and efficiencies are delivered.
Together with the Senior Finance Manager, ensure processes are standardised, documented and that KPIs are used to demonstrate delivery with service levels being met or exceeded.
Maintain close relationships with internal and external customer/stakeholder groups, monitoring and seeking feedback on team performance, providing resolution of issues, and agreeing improvement plans as required.
Perform other related duties as assigned by Senior Finance Manager.
Skills, Knowledge & Expertise
Mandatory:Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field. CPA or CMA preferred.
Minimum 3 years' post-qualified experience in financial accounting and reporting
Strong understanding of local (India) regulatory and tax requirements and deadlines
Previously worked in a shared services environment for at least 5 years.
Excellent IT skills in use of Microsoft tools (Excel, PowerPoint, Word etc.)
Knowledge of financial accounting, process, and systems. Good working knowledge and experience of ERP's
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Analytical Thinking - acquiring a proper understanding of a problem or situation by breaking it down systematically into its component parts and identifying the relationships & linkages between processes.
Exceptional capability to multi-task and prioritize with excellent organization and documentation skills in a fast-paced, dynamic work environment.
Capable of working collaboratively and independently with minimal supervision
Detailed knowledge of UK, US and Canadian GAAP and IFRS would be beneficial.
Relevant experience with at least 3 years' post-qualified experience working in financial accounting environment within shared services.
Thorough knowledge of local regulatory and tax requirements and deadlines
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, ability to articulate complex information.
Attention to detail, and accurate fact-based interpretation.
Ability to set clear priorities and objectives
