As the Senior Accountant in our hospitality, you will oversee the accounting and financial reporting functions for one or more restaurant. You will ensure accurate, timely financial statements, manage intercompany allocations, support budgeting, and liaise with operations leadership to provide actionable insights. You will also lead process improvements, guide junior accounting staff, and ensure compliance with accounting standards and internal controls.
Key Responsibilities / Duties
Lead and oversee the
monthly close
process: journal entries, accruals, adjustments, reconciliations, and financial statement preparation
Manage and review
to different cost centers (e.g. kitchens, outlets, head office)
Handle
inventory accounting
and periodic physical counts or sample recounts
Supervise
accounts receivable / payables
related to restaurants and third-party partners (e.g. delivery aggregators, vendors)
Lead the
utilities accrual process
, vendor contract cost allocations, and recognition of related expenses
Reconcile and interface credit card / petty cash / expense reimbursements with general ledger
Work with Operations / Restaurant Managers to interpret P&L variances, identify cost issues, and support decision-making
Assist or lead
audit / tax engagements
- prepare audit schedules, liaise with external auditors, and ensure compliance
Drive
process improvements
, automation of reporting, standardization across outlets
Mentor, train, and review work of junior accountants / accounting staff
Prepare financial analyses, forecasts, budget variance reports, and KPI dashboards
Ensure internal controls, policies, and accounting processes are followed, and propose enhancements
Handle ad hoc special projects (system upgrades, expansion accounting, integration with POS / ERP systems)
Qualifications / Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Accounting / Finance (or equivalent); professional qualification (CA / CPA / CMA) preferred
5+ years
of accounting experience, ideally in hospitality, retail, restaurant chains, or multi-unit operations
Experience supervising or mentoring junior staff
Strong working knowledge of accounting standards (e.g. IFRS, GAAP) and good grasp of internal controls
Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, formulas, data analysis)
Experience with accounting / ERP / POS integration systems (e.g. SAP, Microsoft Dynamics, restaurant-specific systems)
Excellent analytical, problem solving, and communication skills
Ability to work under deadlines, manage multiple priorities, and interface with operations teams
Attention to detail, accuracy, and strong organizational skills
Integrity, confidentiality, and a results-oriented attitude
Preferred or Additional Criteria (Nice to Have)
Experience in multi-location or chain restaurant accounting
Knowledge of restaurant / hospitality KPIs (cost of goods sold, food & beverage margin, labor costs)
Familiarity with third-party delivery aggregators, commission calculations, and royalty/fee accounting
Exposure to budgeting / forecasting / financial modeling
Experience coordinating audits / tax filings
Working Conditions
May supervise: Staff Accountants, Junior Accountants or accounting assistants
Office-based (with occasional on-site visits to restaurants, if applicable)
May require extended hours during month-end, audit periods, or system transitions
