The Senior Accountant will be responsible for managing and overseeing the complete accounting operations at the plant level, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely reporting. The ideal candidate should have prior experience in the automobile or engineering manufacturing sector, with a strong understanding of cost control, inventory accounting, and statutory compliance applicable to manufacturing units.
Key Responsibilities
1. Accounting & Financial Control
Handle day-to-day accounting of all plant transactions - purchase, sales, job work, scrap, and expenses.
Ensure accurate posting in ERP/Tally/SAP, with appropriate cost center and ledger mapping.
Prepare monthly trial balance, P&L, and balance sheet schedules for plant-level review.
Verify and reconcile vendor, customer, and inter-unit accounts.
Manage fixed asset accounting, depreciation working, and capitalization entries.
Handle banking and bank reconciliation, petty cash management, and cash flow monitoring.
Maintain proper documentation and record-keeping for audit and statutory purposes.
2. Inventory & Costing
Supervise GRN (Goods Receipt Notes) and ensure matching with PO and invoice.
Reconcile raw material, WIP, and finished goods stock with physical inventory periodically.
Coordinate with stores and production for monthly stock valuation and consumption analysis.
Support cost accounting and variance analysis - material yield, rejection, scrap recovery, etc.
Assist in preparation of product costing sheets and cost audits.
Understanding and preparation of quarterly, half yearly rate differences supplementaries in accordance with customer rate settlement
3. Statutory Compliance
Ensure timely filing and payment of GST, TDS, EPFO, ESIC and professional tax from the plant.
Maintain records and returns as per Companies Act and Income Tax Act.
Liaise with internal and external auditors during audits.
Support compliance with labour laws, excise/customs (if applicable) and E-Way Bill processes.
4. MIS & Reporting
Prepare and submit monthly MIS reports - cost summary, expense variance, consumption reports, and outstanding statements.
Coordinate with head office for monthly financial closure and data consolidation.
Provide insights on cost reduction opportunities, working capital management, and plant-level performance.
Support budgeting and forecast exercises for plant operations.
5. Coordination & Team Management
Supervise and guide junior accountants or data entry staff at the plant.
Coordinate with procurement, production, and dispatch teams for timely documentation and accounting.
Ensure smooth communication with Head Office finance and statutory authorities.
Qualifications & Experience
Education: B.Com / M.Com / MBA (Finance) / Inter CA or equivalent.
Experience: 5-7 years of experience in manufacturing industry, preferably in automobile or engineering / sheet metal components sector.
ERP Knowledge: Tally Prime/ERP (familiarity with production & inventory modules preferred).
Strong working knowledge of GST, TDS, EPFO, ESIC and Costing in a manufacturing environment.
Good command over MS Excel and reporting tools.
Ability to work independently with accountability and meet tight deadlines.
