The Senior Accountant is responsible for managing and overseeing daily accounting operations, ensuring accuracy in financial reporting, and maintaining compliance with statutory regulations. The role involves supervising junior accountants, preparing financial statements, managing audits, and supporting strategic financial planning.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Financial Accounting & Reporting
Prepare and finalize monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
Ensure accuracy and completeness of general ledger entries and reconciliations.
Oversee accounts payable, receivable, payroll, and bank reconciliation processes.
Maintain and ensure proper documentation of all financial transactions.
2. Budgeting & Forecasting
Assist in preparing annual budgets and periodic forecasts.
Analyze variances between actual results and budgeted figures; provide insights and corrective actions.
3. Taxation & Compliance
Ensure timely filing of GST, TDS, Income Tax, and other statutory returns.
Coordinate with external auditors, tax consultants, and regulatory bodies.
Maintain compliance with applicable accounting standards (IND AS/IFRS/GAAP) and legal requirements.
4. Audit & Internal Controls
Manage internal and external audits efficiently.
Develop and implement effective internal control systems to safeguard company assets.
Ensure adherence to accounting policies and procedures.
5. Team Supervision & Coordination
Supervise and mentor junior accountants and accounting staff.
Support management with financial insights for strategic decision-making.
Coordinate with other departments for accurate financial data collection.
Required Qualifications & Skills:
Education:
Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or Commerce.
Professional qualification preferred (CA / CMA / CPA / ACCA).
Experience:
Minimum 5-8 years of experience in accounting and finance, preferably in a corporate or audit environment.
Skills:
Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial regulations.
Proficiency in Tally, ERP, SAP, or other accounting software.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
Strong communication and leadership abilities.
Attention to detail and ability to work under deadlines.
