Maintain and update the general ledger, ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting standards.
Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements (P&L, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow).
Reconcile all major accounts including bank accounts, vendor accounts, and OEM accounts.
Monitor daily cash flow and ensure adequate funds for dealership operations.
2. Dealership-Specific Accounting
Oversee accounting for new and used vehicle sales, insurance, accessories, service revenue, and spare parts.
Review vehicle sale invoices, stock statements, and commission calculations.
Ensure accurate booking of OEM schemes, incentives, discounts, and claims.
Manage floor-plan accounting and interest costs with banks/NBFCs.
3. Taxation & Compliance
Ensure timely filing of GST, TDS, and other statutory returns.
Handle GST reconciliations, input credit tracking, and vendor compliance.
Coordinate with auditors for internal and statutory audits.
Maintain compliance with dealership policies and financial regulations.
4. Inventory Management
Monitor inventory of vehicles, spare parts, and consumables.
Conduct periodic stock audits and ensure proper valuation of inventory.
Investigate stock variances and coordinate with the sales/service teams for corrections.
5. Accounts Receivable & Payable
Oversee customer billing, credit management, and follow-ups for outstanding payments.
Manage vendor payments, verify purchase orders, and ensure timely settlement.
Review dealer claims, incentives, warranties, and reimbursements.
6. Team Leadership & Coordination
Supervise junior accountants, cashiers, and accounts assistants.
Provide training, guidance, and ensure team productivity.
Coordinate with sales, service, HR, and administration for smooth financial functioning.
7. MIS & Management Support
Prepare daily/weekly/monthly MIS reports such as sales performance, gross margins, ageing reports, workshop profitability, etc.
Support management in budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning.
Highlight anomalies, risks, and cost-saving opportunities.
Key Skills & Qualifications
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Commerce, Accounting, or Finance (M.Com/CA Inter preferred).
5-10 years of accounting experience, preferably in an automobile dealership.
Strong knowledge of GST, TDS, and statutory compliance.
Proficiency in DMS/ERP systems (Tally, Autosoft, Automate, CDK, etc.).
Excellent analytical, leadership, and communication skills.
Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
Work Environment
Full-time, office-based role within the dealership.
Requires coordination across sales, service, and parts departments.
Occasional extended hours during month-end/year-end closing.
