Job Description

A Senior Accountant in the trading industry is responsible for managing financial records related to buying and selling goods, ensuring accurate cost tracking, revenue recognition, inventory valuation, and compliance with accounting standards and tax regulations. The role also supports management with financial analysis and controls.

Key Responsibilities1. Financial Accounting & Reporting



Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements Ensure compliance with accounting standards (IFRS / GAAP) Maintain accurate general ledger and trial balances Manage month-end and year-end closing activities

2. Trading Transactions Accounting



Record purchase and sales transactions accurately Account for foreign currency transactions and exchange differences Monitor margins, mark-ups, and profitability per trade Ensure correct revenue recognition based on delivery terms (Incoterms)

3. Inventory & Cost Control



Maintain inventory records (FIFO / Weighted Average, etc.) Reconcile physical stock with accounting records Calculate landed costs (purchase price, freight, insurance, customs duties) Identify slow-moving or obsolete inventory

4. Accounts Receivable & Payable Oversight



Review customer credit limits and aging reports Ensure timely invoicing and collection follow-ups Monitor supplier payments and cash flow planning Resolve discrepancies with customers and suppliers

5. Taxation & Compliance



Prepare and review VAT / Sales Tax returns Ensure compliance with customs, import/export, and local tax laws Support tax audits and government inspections Ensure proper documentation for cross-border transactions

6. Budgeting & Financial Analysis



Assist in preparing budgets and forecasts Analyze sales trends, gross profit, and operating costs Provide management with financial insights and variance analysis Support pricing decisions and trade profitability analysis

7. Internal Controls & Audit



Implement and monitor internal control procedures Ensure segregation of duties in finance operations Support internal and external audits Identify and mitigate financial risks

8. Team Leadership & Coordination



Supervise junior accountants and accounts staff Review accounting entries and reconciliations Coordinate with sales, procurement, logistics, and warehouse teams Train staff on accounting policies and ERP systems

9. ERP & Systems Management



Work with ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics, Tally, etc.) Ensure accuracy of data integration between trading, inventory, and finance modules Improve accounting processes and automation

Key Skills & Qualifications



Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance Professional qualification (CA, CPA, ACCA, CMA - preferred) Strong knowledge of inventory and trading accounting Experience with foreign currency and international trade Advanced Excel and ERP system skills Strong analytical and leadership abilities
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: ₹25,000.00 - ₹30,000.00 per month
