The Accountant is responsible for managing financial transactions, preparing financial statements, and ensuring compliance with relevant financial regulations. This role plays a critical part in maintaining accurate financial records and supporting the financial health of the organisation.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Bookkeeping and Record Keeping: Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records. Record daily financial transactions in the accounting software.
Invoice Processing: Generate and process invoices for clients and suppliers. Verify the accuracy of billing details and resolve discrepancies.
Accounts Payable: Manage and monitor accounts payable, ensuring timely payment of bills and expenses.
Accounts Receivable: Track and follow up on accounts receivable to ensure timely collection of payments.
Bank Reconciliation: Reconcile bank statements to ensure accuracy of financial data. Investigate and resolve any discrepancies.
Financial Reporting: Prepare financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements. Generate financial reports for management and stakeholders.
Budgeting and Forecasting: Assist in budget preparation and financial forecasting. Monitor budget vs. actual performance and provide insights.
Expense Management: Control and monitor expenses to ensure they are within budget limits.
Tax Compliance: Ensure compliance with tax regulations and assist in the preparation of tax returns. Keep updated on tax laws and changes that may affect the organisation.
Audit Support: Assist in internal and external audit processes. Prepare necessary documents and reports for audits.
Financial Analysis: Analyse financial data and provide insights to support decision-making. Identify cost-saving opportunities and financial efficiencies.
Financial Software and Tools: Proficiently use accounting software, spreadsheets, and financial tools. Stay current with industry accounting standards and best practices.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
2+ years of experience in accounting or finance roles.
Skills Required:
Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial regulations.
Proficiency in using accounting software and MS Excel.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
