We are looking for a seasoned Accounts Head with strong foundational knowledge in accounting and statutory compliance, as well as a strategic understanding of retail and e-commerce accounting processes. This is a managerial role -- responsible for overseeing the accounts team, ensuring timely and accurate financial operations, and coordinating with internal and external stakeholders to maintain full statutory and financial compliance.
The ideal candidate must have experience working in organizations with both offline retail stores and online e-commerce platforms, and must be confident in guiding the team through complex reconciliations, multi-channel accounting, and platform-based settlements.
Key Responsibilities:
Leadership & Oversight
Lead and manage the entire accounting function including a team of junior accountants and executives
Set up and monitor processes for timely data entry, reconciliation, statutory filings, and reporting
Liaise with internal teams (sales, dispatch, operations, retail) to ensure seamless financial coordination
Work closely with auditors, consultants, and CAs for timely tax and ROC filings
Review and approve MIS reports, cash flow planning, P&Ls, and ageing reports
Statutory & Financial Compliance
Oversee TDS, GST (GSTR1, GSTR2A, GSTR3B), and ROC compliance workflows
Ensure complete and accurate ledger scrutiny, vendor reconciliations, and audit preparation
Ensure timely submission of financial data and statutory returns with accuracy
Maintain strong controls and compliance systems as per the Companies Act
Retail & E-Commerce Accounting Oversight
Understand and guide the team on:
Retail-level reconciliations across multiple store locations
E-commerce operations, including own website and platforms
Payment gateway settlements, return handling, deduction verifications, and commission structures
Settlement tracking across various aggregators and ensuring accurate accounting
Review dashboards, settlement reports, and reconciliation summaries prepared by team members
Build accounting processes that are scalable, audit-ready, and adapted to modern retail models
Skills & Qualifications:
6-10 years of accounting experience, with at least 2-3 years managing accounts for a retail/e-commerce company
Proven experience in leading accounting teams and implementing process-driven systems
Solid knowledge of accounting principles, GST, TDS, ROC, and the Companies Act
Excellent leadership, analytical thinking, and communication skills
Strong proficiency in Tally, MS Excel, and preferably Zoho Books and Google Sheets
Ability to manage priorities in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment
Fluent in English, Hindi, and Marathi
Preferred Background:
Experience in consumer goods, retail chains, or e-commerce brands is highly desirable
Exposure to inventory-based businesses and understanding of cost structures, discounts, logistics charges, etc.
Comfortable working in a growing organization where systems are continuously evolving
