The Academic Head (Grades 3-8) is responsible for providing strong academic leadership, instructional guidance, and smooth operational management for the primary and middle school. The role ensures high-quality teaching practices, student engagement, well-planned curriculum delivery, and effective coordination among teachers while supporting the school's vision and NEP 2020 implementation.
Key ResponsibilitiesA. Academic Leadership
Design, implement, and periodically review the curriculum for Grades 3-8 in alignment with CBSE standards and school philosophy.
Drive structured lesson planning, differentiated instruction, and monitoring of learning outcomes across all subjects.
Lead teacher mentoring, peer observations, and robust professional development programmes.
Ensure effective assessment design (formative & summative) and guide teachers in analysing results for remediation and enrichment.
Oversee academic data -- exam performance, attendance, progress reports -- and generate actionable insights.
Integrate 21st-century skills, technology-enabled learning, and NEP 2020 competencies in classrooms.
Maintain a strong focus on literacy and numeracy to ensure smooth academic progression from Grades 3-8.
Conduct academic audits, classroom observations, and ensure adherence to school academic standards.
B. Administrative & Operational Management
Prepare the academic calendar, timetables, and ensure coordination across subjects and grade levels.
Liaise with the Principal, subject heads, and coordinators to ensure seamless academic operations.
Manage teacher workload allocation, class substitutions, and academic resource planning.
Ensure timely maintenance of lesson plans, assessment data, student records, and report cards.
Coordinate with administration, IT, and procurement teams for teaching aids and digital learning resources.
Support teacher recruitment, induction, and performance appraisal processes for Grades 3-8.
Organise PTMs, student orientations, and academic events such as Olympiads, exhibitions, and quizzes.
Contribute to academic budget planning and track resource utilisation.
C. Strategic & Developmental Functions
Lead the implementation of NEP 2020 initiatives and CBSE innovations, including experiential and competency-based learning.
Foster a collaborative academic culture that balances autonomy with accountability.
Plan and monitor enrichment programmes, remedial classes, and student mentoring structures.
Collaborate with the Principal on policy development, curriculum review, and school improvement planning.
Ensure academic continuity and alignment between Grades 3-8 and Grades 9-12.
Strengthen parent engagement through workshops, newsletters, open houses, and academic updates.
Promote a child-centric environment focused on emotional wellbeing, discipline, and holistic development.
Represent the school section during inspections, CBSE audits, and external academic workshops.
Qualifications & Experience
Master's degree in Education or relevant subject area; B.Ed./M.Ed. is mandatory.
8-12 years of teaching experience with at least 3-5 years in an academic leadership/coordinator role.
Strong understanding of the CBSE curriculum, NEP 2020 guidelines, and modern pedagogical strategies.
Excellent leadership, mentoring, and analytical skills.

Proficiency in academic data analysis and digital teaching tools.
