Key Responsibilities Installation & Maintenance: Installing new AC units, ductwork, and programmable thermostats. Performing routine maintenance, such as cleaning coils, checking refrigerant levels, and greasing bearings. Diagnostics & Repair: Troubleshooting electrical and mechanical faults. Repairing or replacing faulty parts like motors, compressors, and condensers. Safety & Compliance: Ensuring all work complies with safety codes, EPA regulations, and industry standards. Customer Interaction: Advising clients on system issues, repair options, and maintenance tips to improve efficiency. Documentation: Keeping accurate records of service calls, parts used, and repair history. Required Qualifications & Skills Education: High school diploma or equivalent; completion of an accredited HVAC program is preferred. Certification: EPA Section 608 Certification is often required to handle refrigerants. Experience: Generally 2+ years of hands-on experience in HVAC or relevant technical fields. Technical Abilities: Strong mechanical aptitude, understanding of electrical principles, and ability to read blueprints. Physical Stamina: Ability to lift heavy equipment and work in various weather conditions (heat/cold). Licensure: Valid driver's license. Work Environment Often requires working in, on, or around residential homes and commercial buildings. May involve working in tight spaces (attics, crawlspaces) and at heights.
