The Seed Processing Manager

is responsible for managing the complete cycle of seed operations -- including intake, inspection, grading, processing, packing, storage, and dispatch of seeds. The role ensures that all operations are executed efficiently, in compliance with quality standards, certification norms, and company policies, while maintaining optimal utilization of manpower and resources.

Key Responsibilities



1. Seed Intake & Coordination

Supervise and coordinate the intake of seed lots from production or contract growers. Verify accompanying documents and ensure that lot data (variety, quantity, source, and certification details) are accurately recorded. Coordinate with production and quality teams for timely receipt and processing of incoming seeds.

2. Seed Inspection, Grading & Quality Control

Conduct detailed inspections of seeds to ensure they meet prescribed quality standards for size, weight, moisture content, purity, and germination Oversee grading operations and ensure adherence to seed certification and regulatory standards. Implement in-process quality checks during cleaning, grading, and packaging. Identify and address non-conformities through timely corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).

3. Compliance & Documentation

Ensure compliance with statutory and certification requirements (State Seed Certification Agency, internal quality systems, etc.). Maintain comprehensive documentation for seed grading, processing reports, test results, and certification records. Facilitate inspections and audits by external and internal agencies.

4. Packing, Storage & Dispatch

Plan and oversee seed packing activities ensuring correct lot identification, labeling, and packaging as per company and certification norms. Supervise storage of processed seeds under optimal conditions (temperature, humidity, pest control, etc.) to maintain seed viability. Manage and monitor the dispatch process, ensuring accurate order picking, stock reconciliation, documentation, and timely shipment to distribution centers, depots, or customers. Coordinate with logistics, sales, and warehouse teams to ensure smooth and efficient dispatch planning and tracking. Maintain dispatch registers, gate pass records, and proof of delivery documentation for audit and traceability.

5. Inventory Management

Monitor seed stock levels and ensure availability of finished lots as per sales and dispatch schedules. Maintain accurate stock records in ERP or manual registers with complete traceability from intake to dispatch. Conduct periodic physical stock verifications and reconcile discrepancies.

6. Coordination & Reporting

Liaise with Production, QA/QC, Procurement, Sales, and Dispatch teams for end-to-end operational coordination. Prepare daily/weekly/monthly reports covering intake, grading, packing, dispatch, and quality outcomes. Share insights and operational feedback with management for continuous process improvement.

Required Skills and Qualifications



Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Agriculture, Seed Technology, Agronomy, or related field.

Experience: 5-10 years of experience in seed processing, packing, storage, and dispatch operations.

Technical Knowledge: In-depth understanding of seed biology, seed processing machinery, grading systems, moisture control, and certification protocols.

Process Management: Proficiency in workflow scheduling, manpower management, and dispatch coordination.

Documentation & IT Skills: Competent in ERP systems, MS Excel, and seed traceability documentation.

Leadership: Ability to manage teams, delegate effectively, and maintain high operational discipline.

Must-Have Competencies



Strong technical knowledge of seed processing and dispatch workflows. Proven experience in seed industry operations (preferably hybrid or certified seeds). Sound understanding of seed certification, regulatory compliance, and quality standards. Proficiency in inventory and dispatch management systems. Attention to detail, problem-solving capability, and cross-functional coordination. Commitment to safety, quality, and timely execution.

Pay: ?200,000.00 - ?250,000.00 per month
