Job Description

A Security Officer's job is to protect people and property by patrolling, monitoring surveillance, controlling access, responding to emergencies, enforcing rules, and documenting incidents to deter crime and ensure a safe environment, requiring alertness, physical fitness, and good communication skills. They act as the first line of defense, handling everything from visitor checks to assisting with fires or medical issues.
Key Responsibilities:

• Patrolling & Surveillance: Regularly patrol assigned areas (on foot or in vehicle) and monitor CCTV/alarms for suspicious activity.
• Access Control: Guard entry/exit points, check IDs, and manage visitor/employee access.
• Emergency Response: Respond to alarms, medical emergencies, fires, or threats, providing initial assistance and coordinating with law enforcement.

• Incident Reporting: Write detailed, accurate reports on observations, breaches, and incidents.

• Deterrence: Maintain a visible presence to discourage criminal activity and enforce company policies.

• Customer Service: Assist employees, visitors, and patrons, providing directions and support.

Essential Skills & Qualifications:

• High school diploma/GED, valid license, and background check.
• Strong observation, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Physical fitness and mental alertness to handle stressful situations.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Typical Work Environment:

• Can range from corporate offices, retail stores, hospitals, to event venues.
