Introduction:

  • Responsible for understanding, researching, designing, and developing security solutions with the products Barclays has acquired for consumption as a service offering across all of Barclays
  • Develop a strong understanding of security tooling (commercial off-shelf) and support the development team in configuring the tool to meet their requirements
  • Work alongside Security Operations teams (mainly Cyber) teams to identify and investigate intrusions, evolve collection strategies, to support in implementation of new technical controls (Security/Cyber)
  • Analyse requirements, drive the vision for various security product and design solutions to meet the user requirements for various range of security tooling e.g. endpoint protection, IDS/IPS, SIEM and threat intelligence
  • Work with the Data and insights team to analyse data to support the design decisions to enable areas like detection for malicious activity in log data, network traffic or on endpoints
  • Own the coordination and implementation of technical development requirements from red and blue teams (e.g. working with a reverse engineer to implement a configuration decoder for a malware family, integrating a new data source to a TI platform, automating the provision of VMs and domains etc. for an adversary simulation engagement).
  • Drive of the end-to-end integration for our intelligence driven defence strategy (ad-hoc collection scripts, malware sandboxes, Yara/OpenIOC distribution, sinkholes etc.)

What will you be doing? Ownership of engineering of technical solutions across security domains, collaborating closely with security engineers and global infrastructure resources.
  • The role requires the candidate to take responsibility for success of implementation of security operations requirements into solutions
  • The successful candidate will work closely with on-shore and off-shore development teams
  • Design, develop and deliver product roadmaps to support the evolution of core security services, aligning deliveries to Barclays strategy

What we're looking for:
  • Hands on experience with security tooling design and build across endpoint, cloud, mail and network monitoring
  • Excellent overall knowledge of open source and commercial security tooling and integrations
  • Strong knowledge of security network architectures (e.g. Firewalls, DMZ, proxies, DNS, web and mail servers) and the principles of networking.
  • Ability to think architecturally at 'big picture' and able to translate this into practical security implementation

Skills that will help you in the role:
  • Infrastructure administration, Windows/Linux, Storage, Database, Networking
  • Configuration management and scripting (Chef, Puppet, Bash, Python, Powershell)
  • Relevant professional certifications in information technology or cloud security e.g. CISSP, CCSP, CISA, CEH,
OSCP, GIAC
  • Agile methodology qualification
  • Cloud certfications (AWS/Azure)
  • Strong background in computer science and engineering
