NLHealthServices.ca Job Summary The Secretary I provides secretarial support and is responsible for using Meditech software to organize and record clinical appointments, providing telephone reception and corresponding with patients concerning appointments, and managing wait lists for assigned physicians. The Secretary I is also responsible for organizing and maintaining clinical charts, ordering office and other supplies, typing of clinical transcription, dicta typing, typing correspondence such as medical letters and administrative correspondence, preparing presentation material using available software and assisting in the preparation of teaching and research material, filing of clinical and administrative material and correspondence, and other clerical and general office duties as assigned. Constantly sits, but work provides the opportunity to occasionally stand and walk within the office environment. Occasionally required to bend and stretch to perform work. Constantly required to perform fine finger/precision work while using a computer mouse. Job Qualifications Successful completion of a two-year Office Administration program OR completion of a one-year Office Administration program from an approved/recognized college supplemented by two years\' experience within the last four in a progressively responsible clerical role is required. Successful completion of an approved/recognized medical terminology course is required. A medical transcription score of 70% is required. A medical transcription test may be administered by the Department of Human Resources. Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office, Excel, Powerpoint and Outlook is required. A satisfactory record of work performance and attendance is required. Proof of a current office administration program and a medical terminology is required. To be considered current, they must have been completed within the last five years, unless it has been used in recent positions. This must be demonstrated on the application form. If medical terminology isn\'t current, a medical terminology test may be administered by the Human Resources Client Services Department. The attendance record is only available to employees who are currently in positions that accumulate sick time.
