JOB SUMMARY Global Application Technology (GApT) enables growth for SABIC Specialties business unit through new application development. This includes working with global customers to specify our materials in their applications by providing technical solutions through design, predictive engineering simulations and experimental validation and prototype technologies. The new ideas should bring value to targeted industry segments such as Mobility, Electronics, Industrial, Infrastructure and Healthcare. The focus area for this position is to support new application development primarily for automotive market using specialties materials, by leveraging domain knowledge in design and CAE applied to develop emerging automotive applications such as EV battery solutions and their commercial sucess. The role involves extensive usage of Pre & post processing CAE tools such as Hyperworks and any one of the CAE analysis tools such as Abaqus/LS DYNA/Moldflow and related technologies to support primarily global automotive customers of Specialties business unit.
How You Can Be the Impact

• Lead and execute the predictive engineering projects for global automotive industry customers using Pre & post processing CAE tools such as Hyperworks and any one of the CAE analysis tools such as Abaqus/LS DYNA/Moldflow and related technologies.
• Deliver technical solutions to customer applications by applying the knowledge of design, thermoplastic material, tooling, molding process and extensive use of CAE to evaluate multiple designs and optimise to meet the overall objective.
• Troubleshooting of customer problems to find root cause and develop approaches to solve them through simulations enabling optimum solution and issue resolution within boundary of problem
• Provide engineering inputs through CAE simulations enabling evolution of design for optimum performance and cost benefits Proactively work using engineering expertise & explore multiple options, to provide complete end-to-end solutions.
• Planning of projects, working closely with global sales and marketing team. Interface seamlessly with global customers ensuring on timely execution of program deliverables.
• Communicate proactively to all team members, business stakeholders, etc. and have mitigation plans/risk management strategy. Exploring innovative design options to meet application requirements with engineering thermoplastics/composites, using multi-disciplinary inputs & to synthesize them into a solution.
• To develop design methodology, material models validation for thermoplastic materials using CAE tools for all types of technical problems such as mold filling, static, dynamic, impact, fatigue and creep
• Develop and guide material characterization and validation methodology for engineering thermoplastic materials
• Experimental validation of simulation results and fine tune the predictive models for better prediction and closely match with reality
• Activities related to organizational initiatives & EHS requirements

What Matters to SABIC

• At least 5 to 8 years of experience preferably in Automotive OEM or Tier-1 or engineering services companies involved in the new plastic application development for emerging auto industries such as EV, AV, battery technologies etc
• Broad technical experience in market trend research, regulation needs, ideation, design, tooling, predictive engineering simulation, materials and prototyping technologies required for the successful development of new application for automotive industry.
• In-depth understanding of theory & practical knowledge in material science, finite elements methods, strength of materials, automotive industry knowledge and related subjects etc.
• Hands-on expertise in pre & post-processing software Hyperworks and any one of the CAE softwares namely Abaqus/LSDYNA/Moldflow. Also, should be good in results interpretation, optimization and technical report preparation.
• Hands-on experience in developing new plastic applications for any one of the automotive industry such as 2-wheeler, 3-wheeler, cars, trucks etc Automotive industry knowledge; market trends, regulation needs, EV, AV, Battery technologies etc
• Understanding of thermo-plastic material selection of various automotive applications meeting the specific functional requirements
• Ability to learn quickly the emerging automotive technologies, opportunities for thermo-plastic materials and solutions
• Project planning and timely execution. Project management skills
• Excellent communication and presentation skills
