The Science Teacher for the Secondary Section is responsible for delivering engaging, standards-based instruction in subjects such as Biology, Chemistry, Physics, and General Science. The teacher will guide students in developing scientific knowledge, inquiry skills, critical thinking, and problem-solving abilities. This role involves lesson planning, classroom and lab management, assessment, and ongoing collaboration with school staff and parents.
Key Responsibilities Teaching & Instruction
Plan, prepare, and deliver science lessons aligned with the secondary curriculum and learning objectives.
Use diverse instructional strategies to meet the needs of different learning styles and abilities.
Facilitate hands-on experiments, demonstrations, and project-based learning activities.
Integrate technology, simulations, and digital tools to enhance scientific understanding.
Classroom & Laboratory Management
Maintain a safe, structured, and inclusive classroom and laboratory environment.
Teach and monitor lab safety procedures and ensure proper use of scientific equipment.
Establish clear behavioral expectations and implement effective classroom-management strategies.
Assessment & Student Progress
Create and administer tests, quizzes, lab reports, assignments, and science projects.
Track and evaluate student performance with accuracy and fairness.
Provide timely, constructive feedback to support student growth.
Prepare and maintain academic records, grades, and progress reports.
Communication & Collaboration
Communicate regularly with parents/guardians about student progress, concerns, and achievements.
Collaborate with fellow teachers and department heads to align curriculum and share best practices.
Participate in staff meetings, training sessions, and professional development workshops.
Support school science-related activities such as science fairs, STEM clubs, and competitions.
Qualifications & Requirements
B.Sc./M.Sc./B.Ed.
Strong subject-matter expertise and practical knowledge of lab safety procedures.
Effective communication, organizational, and classroom-management skills.
Ability to motivate and engage adolescents in scientific learning.
