The School Accountant and Cashier will be responsible for managing the institution's financial transactions, maintaining accurate accounting records, handling cash operations, and ensuring timely collection and disbursement of funds. The role requires a detail-oriented and trustworthy individual who can manage both accounting and cashiering duties efficiently while upholding the financial integrity of the institution.
Key Responsibilities
Accounting Duties:
Maintain accurate books of accounts, ledgers, and other financial records of the institution.
Record daily financial transactions and prepare journal entries.
Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reports.
Assist in budgeting, forecasting, and expense monitoring.
Reconcile bank statements and manage petty cash accounts.
Prepare vouchers, invoices, receipts, and payment documentation.
Support the annual audit process and ensure compliance with accounting standards.
Monitor fee collections, outstanding dues, and coordinate with the administration for fee reminders.
Ensure compliance with statutory requirements such as GST, TDS, and other applicable financial regulations.
Cashier Duties:
Handle day-to-day cash and cheque transactions related to student fees, staff payments, and vendor settlements.
Issue receipts for all collections and maintain cash registers and payment records.
Deposit daily collections into the bank and maintain cash flow statements.
Maintain a secure and organized system for cash handling and related documents.
Coordinate with parents and students for payment queries and provide prompt assistance.
Qualifications and Experience
Education:
Bachelor's degree in Commerce, Accounting, Finance, or a related field (B.Com or M.Com preferred).
Additional certification in Tally or similar accounting software is desirable.
Experience:
Minimum 2-5 years of experience in accounting and cashiering, preferably in an educational institution.
Skills and Competencies:
Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Tally ERP, MS Excel).
Strong knowledge of accounting principles and cash handling procedures.
Excellent numerical accuracy and attention to detail.
Good communication and interpersonal skills.
High level of integrity and confidentiality.
Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
