Job Description

A scanner operator prepares documents for digitization, operates specialized scanning equipment to convert physical documents into digital files, and performs quality control checks on the scanned images. Key responsibilities also include organizing and managing digital files, performing basic maintenance on equipment, and troubleshooting any technical issues that arise. Core responsibilities

Document preparation:

Prepare documents for scanning by organizing them in the correct sequence, removing staples and paper clips, and repairing torn pages.
Required skills and qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent is often required. Strong computer skills and familiarity with image editing and scanning software. Excellent attention to detail and accuracy. Good hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity. Basic troubleshooting skills for technical problems. Ability to follow detailed instructions and work independently or as part of a team.
Other potential duties

Some roles may involve additional duties like managing incoming and outgoing mail, making photocopies, or providing general office support. For specialized roles like a Computed Tomography (CT) Scanner Operator, additional qualifications are necessary, such as a degree in radiologic technology, state licensure, and specific certifications (like from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists).

Scanning:

Operate various types of scanners (e.g., document, microfilm, large format) to convert physical materials into digital formats.

Quality assurance:

Inspect and verify scanned images for accuracy, legibility, and proper alignment to ensure they meet quality standards.

File management:

Organize, index, and manage the digital files and documents according to established procedures.

Equipment maintenance:

Monitor and maintain scanning equipment, perform minor repairs, run calibration checks, and ensure it is clean and functional.

Troubleshooting:
