Experience in the Solar Industry (preferably 1 year; not mandatory but strongly preferred) especially a working understanding of inverters, meters , transformers etc.
Exposure to renewable energy systems such as solar, wind, and hybrid plants.
Willingness and enthusiasm to work across multiple Merlin verticals--Energy Monitoring, Industrial Utilities, ZLD Plants, ETP Systems, Wind SCADA/CMS, Substation monitoring , etc.
2. Firmware, Field Integration & Data Acquisition
Hands-on experience working with Enode firmware or similar data loggers.
Ability to integrate sensors, Modbus-based devices, and field equipment onto Enode or in-house Modbus slave frameworks.
Experience validating the end-to-end data chain: o Sensor ? Modbus/RTU/TCP ? Enode ? MQTT Broker ? Raw Data Streams ? Merlin UI.
Ability to troubleshoot mismatches in data registers, communication issues, and mapping errors before handover.
3. Electrical & Power System Fundamentals
Understanding of Active Power, Reactive Power, Power Factor, Apparent Power, Voltage/Current fundamentals, etc.
Awareness of grid-side concepts such as inverter behavior, V/Q/PF modes, and basic protection concepts.
4. Modbus & Industrial Communication
Strong understanding of Modbus RTU/TCP protocols.
Ability to work with:
Register types: Holding, Input, Coils, Discrete.
Data types: Signed, Unsigned, Float/FP32, Swapped FP, Long/Short etc.
Multipliers, byte/word order, and scaling logic.
Familiarity with OPC-UA, MQTT, TCP/IP networking is a strong bonus.
5. Technical & Analytical Skills
Proficiency in Excel (functions, tables, pivoting, basic data cleaning).
Ability to document issues, prepare reports, and communicate clearly in English (basic to intermediate level acceptable).
Knowledge of data analysis, statistical basics, and data cleaning is a plus.
Experience with Python (basic scripting or automation) is an added advantage. Understanding of AI/ML concepts is a bonus--especially anomaly detection, forecasting, or regression modeling.
6. IoT & Sensor Ecosystem Knowledge
Familiarity with IoT sensors (energy meters, flow meters, weather stations, pressure/temp sensors).
Understanding of sensor calibration, communication specs, baud rate settings, and hardware troubleshooting.
Bonus: Experience integrating sensors via RS485, Modbus, OPC, LoRa, 4G gateways, or MQTT nodes.
