SAP Basis Lead (IS3 Band) Role Summary The SAP Basis Lead (IS3 Band) is responsible for overseeing the end-to-end management, operation, and optimization of SAP landscapes across development, quality, pre-production, and production environments. This role provides technical leadership to Basis administrators, ensures platform stability, and collaborates with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality SAP services. Location: India (Bangalore, Kolkata) Key Responsibilities 1. SAP Landscape Management Lead administration of SAP systems (ECC, S/4HANA, BW, PO, PI, GRC, Solution Manager, BTP connectivity, etc.). Manage system installations, upgrades, migrations, conversions, Unicode migrations, and enhancement pack implementations. Oversee client copies, system refreshes, kernel updates, and support package stack upgrades. 2. RISE with SAP / Cloud Operations Lead SAP RISE operations with ECS, hyperscalers (Azure/AWS/GCP), and cloud service providers. Coordinate with SAP ECS and cloud teams on OS/DB administration, patching, backups, monitoring, and performance optimization. Ensure compliance with cloud governance, security, and operational processes. 3. Database Administration Oversee DB operations for HANA, Oracle, SQL Server, MaxDB, or ASE across environments. Review backup/restore, system replication, log management, and DB performance. 4. Performance & Optimization Analyze and optimize SAP application and DB performance issues. Perform workload analysis, tune memory/CPU utilization, and resolve system slowdowns with RCA. 5. Security & Compliance Ensure adherence to security policies (SOD, audit compliance, password policies). Lead authorization, user administration, and role management best practices. 6. Monitoring & Operations Maintain end-to-end system health, alert monitoring, and proactive capacity planning. Own high-severity incident management, RCA, and preventive action plans. 7. Project Delivery & Leadership Lead Basis team members, assign tasks, review deliverables, and ensure compliance with SOPs. Support project managers in planning cutovers, migrations, and go-live activities. Drive automation initiatives and improve Basis operational efficiency. 8. Stakeholder & Vendor Management Coordinate with SAP, ECS, cloud vendors, infra teams, and functional/ABAP teams. Escalate critical issues and ensure SLA compliance. 9. Documentation Create and maintain SOPs, architecture diagrams, inventory, runbooks, and knowledge transition documents. Required Skills & Experience Technical Skills 812+ years of experience in SAP Basis administration. Strong knowledge of S/4HANA architecture, HANA DB, SAP NetWeaver, and SAP BTP integrations. Hands-on experience with SAP RISE, SAP Cloud ALM, SAP Fiori, and SAP Gateway. Proficiency in OS (Linux/Unix/Windows), virtualization, and cloud platforms (Azure/AWS). Experience in DR drills, HA/DR setup, system replication, clustering, and backup/restoration. Leadership Skills Experience leading Basis teams or acting as a technical lead. Strong communication, coordination, and customer-facing skills. Ability to manage high-pressure situations and drive resolutions. Certifications (Preferred) SAP Certified Technology Associate System Administration (S/4HANA + OS/DB) SAP HANA Administration certification Cloud certifications (Azure/AWS) SAP BTP & Cloud ALM certifications (added advantage)
