Job Overview:
We are seeking a knowledgeable, enthusiastic, and passionate Sanskrit Teacher to join our school community. The ideal candidate will inspire students to learn and appreciate the ancient language of Sanskrit, fostering an understanding of its cultural, historical, and philosophical significance. This role involves teaching Sanskrit language and literature, engaging students with both classical and modern texts, and promoting an appreciation of Sanskrit's rich legacy in the context of contemporary society.
Key Responsibilities:
Lesson Planning and Instruction:
Develop and deliver engaging lessons that cater to students' varying proficiency levels in Sanskrit.
Teach Sanskrit grammar, vocabulary, reading comprehension, and writing skills.
Introduce students to important classical Sanskrit texts, epics (like the Ramayana and Mahabharata), and philosophical works (such as the Upanishads and Bhagavad Gita*). Teach modern applications of Sanskrit, including its influence on contemporary languages, science, and culture.
Tailor lessons to meet the needs of individual learners, fostering both academic rigor and a deeper appreciation for Sanskrit's cultural heritage.
Classroom Management:
Create a positive, respectful, and inclusive classroom environment where students feel motivated to engage with the language.
Set clear expectations for student behavior and participation, ensuring that all students are actively involved in learning.
Encourage a disciplined, focused atmosphere conducive to learning ancient texts and enhancing linguistic skills.
Student Assessment and Feedback:
Regularly assess students' progress through written tests, assignments, and oral exams.
Provide constructive feedback to help students improve their proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking Sanskrit.
Track students' progress and maintain detailed records of their academic performance.
Cultural and Literary Enrichment:
Introduce students to Sanskrit literature, including poetry, drama, and philosophical works.
Use multimedia resources, guest speakers, or field trips (e.g., visiting Sanskrit scholars or attending related cultural events) to enrich students' understanding of the language and culture.
Organize school events or competitions such as Sanskrit recitations, debates, or literary discussions to promote student involvement in the language.
Extracurricular Activities:
Encourage student participation in Sanskrit-related extracurricular activities such as clubs, study groups, or language workshops.
Lead or assist in organizing Sanskrit-based events such as plays, recitations, or cultural celebrations.
Support students in preparing for Sanskrit language examinations, contests, or competitions.
Collaboration and Communication:
Work closely with other faculty members to integrate Sanskrit lessons into interdisciplinary projects (e.g., connecting Sanskrit studies with history, philosophy, or religious studies).
Communicate effectively with parents regarding student progress, challenges, and achievements.
Attend faculty meetings and collaborate with other teachers to ensure a well-rounded educational experience for students.
Material and Resource Management:
Ensure that the classroom is equipped with the necessary resources such as textbooks, Sanskrit dictionaries, and audio-visual aids.
Regularly update materials to ensure they align with current trends in Sanskrit education and language learning methods.
Keep track of inventory and maintain Sanskrit-related resources in good condition.
Qualifications:
Education
: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Sanskrit or a related field (a teaching qualification is preferred).
Experience
: Previous teaching experience in Sanskrit or a related language/subject (at least 2-3 years preferred).
Skills
:
Strong proficiency in Sanskrit grammar, literature, and poetry.
Ability to teach both classical and modern Sanskrit, including its application in daily life and contemporary contexts.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to adapt teaching methods to suit a range of student abilities and interests.
Familiarity with modern educational technology and teaching aids for language instruction.
Certifications
: Valid teaching certification (or equivalent, as required by local education authorities).

Commensurate with qualifications and experience. Accommodation available for outstation candidate.
