Position Summary

The Sand Casting Operator will perform mould?making, core preparation, metal melting and

pouring, shake-out, cleaning, fettling and other tasks required in the sand casting process. The role

ensures that castings are produced safely, efficiently and to required quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

Prepare moulds by mixing and compacting sand, assembling flasks, applying binders (e.g.,
green sand or chemically bonded sand).

Set up and operate core?making equipment (if applicable) and place cores into moulds. Handle furnace operations: weigh and charge metal, melt as per alloy specification, skim
slag, monitor temperature.

Pour molten metal into prepared sand moulds safely and accurately, monitor the process. Perform shake?out: break the mould, remove the casting, clean, and separate gates/sprues. Carry out cleaning, fettling, grinding or finishing of castings (removal of excess material,
rough edges).

Reclaim and recycle used sand, screen sand, manage sand mixture quality and condition
(especially in high-volume operations).

Maintain accurate process records (temperatures, weights, mould parameters, defects) and
support quality checks.

Ensure adherence to safety standards, foundry rules (hot work, molten metal handling, PPE
usage).

Maintain a clean, organised work area, support preventive maintenance of equipment and
moulding tools.

Work collaboratively with production, quality, maintenance teams to achieve targets (yield,
scrap reduction, on-time delivery).

Qualifications / Skills

High school diploma or equivalent (or relevant technical certificate/ITI) preferred. Prior experience in sand casting, mould making, foundry operations preferred. Good mechanical aptitude and ability to handle foundry tools and equipment (shovels,
rammers, pneumatic tools, hoists, ladles)

Ability to follow technical drawings, patterns and work instructions. Awareness of foundry safety, molten metal hazards, heat and dust environment. Physical stamina: ability to stand for long periods, lift/handle loads, work in hot/humid
conditions.

Team player with good interpersonal skills, ability to work under supervision and meet
production targets.

Basic understanding of quality standards (dimensional checks, surface finish, internal
defects) is a plus.

Working Conditions

Foundry workshop environment - hot, noisy, may involve dust/particulates and molten
metal exposure.

Shift work and overtime may be required to meet production schedules. Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) such as heat-resistant gloves, face shield,
safety boots, ear protection, respirator (where required).

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: ₹25,000.00 - ₹30,000.00 per month
