Job Description

Job Purpose:

To operate and maintain the

Kongsberg X Edge Digital Cutting Machine

for developing accurate carton, corrugated, and display samples as per approved CAD designs. Ensure precision, quality, and timely execution of sample and small-batch production jobs.

Key Responsibilities:

Receive dieline / design files from CAD department in ArtiosCAD or compatible format. Import & set up jobs on

iPC (Kongsberg software interface)

with correct tool configuration and material setup. Operate the Kongsberg X Edge machine for cutting, creasing, perforation, and plotting as per job requirement. Select correct tool heads (knife, crease, milling, etc.) as per substrate - paperboard, corrugated board, PVC, etc. Calibrate machine and ensure blade sharpness, vacuum bed alignment, and cutting pressure accuracy. Conduct

first-piece inspection

to verify dimension and crease depth against CAD drawing. Coordinate with

Sample Development & Design team

for corrections or material optimization. Maintain job records - file name, material used, time taken, and remarks for improvement. Perform daily & weekly machine maintenance (cleaning sensors, checking vacuum pump, tool heads). Follow safety protocols and prevent damage to table surface, tools, or materials. Assist in minor troubleshooting with the maintenance team for any software or hardware issue. Maintain the 5S standard (clean, organized, labeled workstation).

Qualification & Experience:

Education:

Diploma / ITI in Printing, Packaging Technology, Mechanical, or related field.

Experience:

1-3 years on

Kongsberg / Zund / Graphtec / Esko sample cutting machines

preferred.

Fresher:

May be trained if technically sound and familiar with CAD / graphics environment.

Skills Required:

Knowledge of

ArtiosCAD / iPC / Adobe Illustrator / DXF

file handling. Understanding of

cutting tools, materials (paperboard, E-flute, B-flute, etc.)

and sample layouts. Basic mechanical & software troubleshooting. Attention to precision and quality finish. Good communication & coordination with design and production teams.
