Sales Officer (Rice) - Roles and Responsibilities



Role Overview:


A Sales Officer in the rice industry is responsible for promoting, selling, and distributing rice products to customers, retailers, wholesalers, and distributors. They ensure sales targets are met, build customer relationships, and develop strategies to grow market share.

Key Responsibilities



Sales & Business Development

Identify potential customers, distributors, and retailers in the rice market. Generate leads and convert them into confirmed sales. Achieve and exceed sales targets and revenue goals.

Market Research & Analysis

Study market trends, competitor products, pricing, and customer preferences. Provide feedback to management regarding customer demands and market gaps. Suggest new markets or segments to expand sales.

Customer Relationship Management

Build and maintain strong relationships with existing and new clients. Address customer queries, complaints, and provide after-sales support. Ensure customer satisfaction to encourage repeat business.

Promotion & Marketing Support

Collaborate with marketing teams to implement promotional campaigns. Participate in trade shows, exhibitions, and other events to increase product visibility. Educate customers and partners about rice varieties, quality, and pricing.

Order Processing & Documentation

Prepare quotations, sales orders, invoices, and delivery schedules. Ensure proper documentation and compliance with company policies. Coordinate with the logistics team to ensure timely delivery.

Pricing & Negotiation

Negotiate pricing and payment terms with customers. Offer discounts, schemes, or promotional packages to boost sales.

Reporting & Coordination

Maintain accurate records of sales activities, customer interactions, and market developments. Provide regular reports to sales managers or regional heads. Coordinate with supply chain, finance, and warehouse teams to ensure smooth operations.

Product Knowledge

Stay updated with the types of rice available, quality standards, and certifications. Explain the nutritional benefits, cooking methods, and storage to customers.

Skills Required



Excellent communication and negotiation skills. Strong customer orientation and relationship-building abilities. Analytical thinking and problem-solving. Understanding of market dynamics and competition. Ability to work independently and in teams. Proficiency in MS Office and CRM tools.

Experience & Qualifications



Bachelor's degree in Agriculture, Business Administration, or related fields. Prior experience in food sales, FMCG, or agricultural products is preferred. Knowledge of rice products, grains, and supply chain is a plus.

Pay: ₹50,000.00 - ₹60,000.00 per month
