The Government Sales Officer will be responsible for managing and expanding business with Government Departments, PSUs, Autonomous Bodies, and Educational Institutions. The role involves tender management, GeM portal operations, client coordination, and ensuring compliance with government procurement procedures to achieve sales targets.
Key ResponsibilitiesGovernment Business Development
Identify and develop business opportunities with Central & State Government Departments, PSUs, and Institutions.
Build and maintain strong relationships with government officials and procurement officers.
Track upcoming tenders, RFPs, and e-tenders from various portals.
Tender & Bid Management
Prepare, review, and submit tenders, bids, and proposals (GeM, CPPP, State e-Tender portals).
Ensure complete documentation including compliance, eligibility, EMD, BOQ, and technical submissions.
Coordinate with internal teams for pricing, technical specs, and approvals.
GeM Portal Operations
Manage product listings, pricing, and order processing on the GeM portal.
Handle bid participation, reverse auctions, and order fulfillment.
Ensure compliance with GeM guidelines and timelines.
Sales & Revenue Growth
Achieve assigned sales targets from government and institutional clients.
Prepare quotations, negotiate pricing within approved margins, and close orders.
Monitor payment cycles and follow up for timely collections.
Coordination & Reporting
Coordinate with logistics, service, and finance teams for smooth execution.
Prepare MIS reports, sales forecasts, and pipeline updates.
Maintain records of tenders, orders, and client communications.
Required Qualifications
Graduate / Post Graduate in any discipline (MBA - Marketing preferred).
Minimum
2-5 years experience
in Government / Institutional sales.
Strong knowledge of
GeM Portal, e-Tendering, and Govt procurement rules
