The Sales Manager (SM) will be responsible for driving business growth across assigned territories through the recruitment, development, and performance management of insurance agents. The role requires strong experience in retail general insurance and health insurance sales, along with proven success in building and managing a productive agent network.
Key Responsibilities1. Agent Recruitment & Development
Identify, recruit, and onboard high-potential insurance agents and advisors.
Conduct regular training on product knowledge (Motor, Fire, Health, PA, Home, etc.), sales techniques, underwriting basics, and compliance.
Motivate and guide agents to meet individual and team sales targets.
Monitor agent performance and implement improvement plans where required.
2. Sales & Business Development
Achieve monthly, quarterly, and annual premium targets for General Insurance (GI) and Health Insurance products.
Expand business through activation of existing agents and appointment of new agents as per territory potential.
Conduct market mapping to identify new business opportunities within retail, SME, and affinity channels.
Ensure balanced business mix across Motor, Health, and Non-Motor lines.
3. Relationship Management
Build strong relationships with agents, channel partners, and key customers.
Provide pre-sales and post-sales support to ensure smooth business operations.
Resolve agent issues promptly to maintain high engagement and productivity.
4. Operational Excellence
Ensure compliance with IRDAI regulations, company policies, and documentation standards.
Review daily dashboards and MIS for tracking performance metrics.
Coordinate with internal teams (underwriting, claims, operations) to ensure service delivery.
5. Market Intelligence
Stay updated on competitors' offerings, pricing changes, and market trends.
Recommend necessary strategies to management to stay ahead of competition.
Required Skills & Experience
Minimum 2
-3 years of experience
in retail general insurance or health insurance.
Fresher Also welcome
Proven track record in
agent recruitment, licensing, and activation
.
Knowledge of Motor, Health & Non-Motor insurance products.
Excellent communication, negotiation, and team leadership skills.
Ability to analyze data, manage territory sales, and drive performance.
