The Sales Manager will be responsible for managing day-to-day sales activities specifically related to
project-based business and government tenders
. The role involves identifying tender opportunities, preparing and submitting bids, understanding technical/financial requirements, coordinating with government authorities, vendors, and internal departments to ensure successful order execution. The candidate must possess strong knowledge of government tender procedures, commercial documentation, and project sales coordination.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:1. Government Tender & Bidding Activities
Identify government tenders from relevant portals (GeM, eProcurement, BHEL, NTPC, ONGC, etc.).
Review tender documents and understand
.
Coordinate with internal departments for all supporting documents (GST, PAN, ISO, balance sheets, declarations, experience certificates, etc.).
Submit bids within deadlines and follow up for bid status.
Conduct post-bid clarifications with tender authorities when required.
Maintain records of tenders submitted, won, and lost, with analysis for future improvement.
2. Coordination with Government Authorities & Bid Authorised Officers
Regular follow-up with government officials regarding bid status.
Attend pre-bid / post-bid meetings and technical discussions.
Understand technical specifications and align them with company product capabilities.
Represent the company professionally during any meetings, visits or inspections.
3. Vendor & Procurement Coordination
Coordinate with vendors/sub-contractors for material sourcing & price quotations.
Finalize negotiations and prepare Purchase Orders for bought-out items.
Ensure timely material availability as per project/tender requirements.
Maintain vendor database and update price trends periodically.
4. Commercial & Documentation Support
Prepare
sales quotations, cost estimation sheets, PO & Work Orders
.
Support commercial team in creating
tax invoices, dispatch documents, warranty formats, bank guarantees, EMD/BG submissions
etc.
Ensure compliance with commercial terms & contract clauses.
5. Sales & Business Development
Achieve monthly and annual sales targets.
Identify and develop new market segments (PSUs, Govt, EPC contractors, OEMs).
Build and maintain good relationships with clients and consultants.
Prepare and present sales reports, projections, and business strategies.
Maintain proper follow-up for payments and coordinate for on-time collection.
6. Internal Coordination
Coordinate closely with production, quality, logistics & finance departments for order execution.
Track project progress and update management proactively.
Attend internal review meetings and give sales forecasts.
7. Market Research & Competitor Analysis
Continuously track government procurement trends.
Collect competitor pricing and strategy intelligence.
Suggest new product ideas and pricing strategies based on market demands.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS:Education:
B.Tech / Diploma (Mechanical / Industrial / Production) - preferred
MBA in Sales & Marketing - added advantage
Experience:
4-8 years of experience
in project sales / government tenders
Experience with
& documentation
Excellent communication and negotiation skills
Strong follow-up ability and coordination skills
Technical understanding of product specifications
Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word)
Ability to work under deadlines and pressure
