The Logistics Key Account Manager is responsible for handling important client accounts daily operations in the company. These accounts make up one of the highest percentages of company income, and the Logistics Key Account Manager must build and maintain a strong relationship with the client. They will be the lead point of contact for all key client matters, anticipate the client's needs, work within the company to ensure deadlines for client are met, and help the client succeed.
Responsibilities:
Daily management and coordination of shipments with both shippers/warehouse and support day-to-day logistics activities for key customers.
Set up and monitor project shipments from initiation, execution, and billing.
Support Planning department for determining cost-effective means of transporting various types of products and equipment considering the delivery requirements.
Analyze routes and means of transportation, negotiate fees, and coordinate with the Operation Department.
Examine carriers and rates and translate the information into cost reports to present to customers.
Monitor all carrier performance and provide feedback to carriers/management.
Responsible for selecting carriers for each customer according to needs and negotiating carrier rates.
Responsible for setting up service reports for customers.
Perform profit and cost analysis for various accounts.
Participate in meetings with carriers and customers as necessary.
Conduct special projects which may be assigned by the manager.
Perform assigned functions in the transportation field, consistent with regulations, standards, established policies, and business requirements.
Experience:
Bachelor's degree in Transportation, Logistics, or Supply Chain preferred.
5-8 years of experience in domestic and international logistics.
Experience with FTL, LTL, NVOCC, import/export consolidations, world distributions, and project cargo/heavy haul.
The ideal candidate would have a background in sales and operations as this position is a hybrid of both areas.
Able to multitask, prioritize, and manage time efficiently.
Goal-oriented, organized team player.
Basic computer skills, and the Microsoft Office Suite, with emphasis on superior Excel skills.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills; must be a listener, a presenter, and a people person.
