The Sales Executive is responsible for sales, business development, and customer relationship management for ferro alloys, base metals, and minor metals. The role involves identifying new customers, managing existing accounts, coordinating with suppliers, negotiating prices, and ensuring smooth order execution while achieving sales targets.
Key Responsibilities
Sales & Business Development
Develop and expand sales of ferro alloys (e.g., FeSi, FeMn, SiMn, FeCr), base metals (Al, Cu, Zn, Ni, etc.), and minor metals
Identify new customers in steel plants, foundries, alloy manufacturers, and metal traders
Achieve monthly and annual sales targets in terms of volume and value
Prepare and submit quotations, negotiate prices, and close sales orders
Customer Relationship Management
Maintain strong relationships with existing customers
Understand customer requirements and provide suitable product solutions
Handle customer queries, complaints, and after-sales support
Coordinate with logistics and accounts teams for timely dispatch and payment follow-up
Market & Product Knowledge
Track market trends, price movements, and demand-supply conditions in metals
Monitor competitor activities and pricing strategies
Update management on market intelligence and opportunities
Maintain updated knowledge of product specifications, grades, and applications
Order Execution & Coordination
Coordinate with procurement/suppliers for material availability
Ensure proper documentation related to sales orders, delivery schedules, and invoices
Work closely with logistics teams for on-time delivery
Follow up on receivables and ensure timely payment collection
Reporting & Documentation
Maintain sales records, customer data, and order status
Prepare daily/weekly/monthly sales reports
Update CRM or ERP systems with sales activities and customer interactions
Key Skills & Competencies
Strong negotiation and communication skills
Good understanding of metal trading and industrial customers
Ability to analyse market trends and price fluctuations
Relationship-building and customer-focused approach
Proficiency in MS Excel, email communication, and ERP/CRM systems
Qualifications & Experience
Bachelor's degree in Commerce, Engineering, or Business Administration (preferred)
2-5 years of experience in metal trading / ferro alloys / base metals sales
Experience dealing with steel plants, foundries, or alloy manufacturers is an advantage
