The Sales Engineer (Refineries) will be responsible for driving sales and business development for technical products, solutions, and services targeted at refinery customers. The role involves deep engagement with process engineers, procurement teams, and operations personnel to identify opportunities, propose technical solutions, and close commercial deals.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop and execute sales strategies to achieve business growth targets in the refinery segment.
Identify and qualify new business opportunities within public and private refineries.
Build and maintain strong customer relationships at all organizational levels (technical, procurement, and management).
Conduct technical presentations, product demonstrations, and application discussions with clients.
Provide technical support in solution design, product selection, and troubleshooting.
Collaborate with internal engineering, product management, and service teams to ensure customer satisfaction.
Negotiate contracts, pricing, and terms of sales with refinery clients.
Track competitor activities, market trends, and emerging technologies in the refining sector.
Prepare sales forecasts, budgets, and periodic performance reports.
Ensure compliance with company policies, HSE guidelines, and ethical business practices.
Required Skills & Competencies:
Strong technical understanding of refinery processes -- crude distillation, hydrotreating, FCC, hydrocracking, reforming, etc.
Experience selling process equipment, catalysts, chemicals, instrumentation, or related technical solutions to refineries.
Proven track record of achieving sales targets in the oil & gas or process industry.
Excellent communication, presentation, and negotiation skills.
Customer-oriented with strong relationship-building ability.
Strong analytical and problem-solving aptitude.
Ability to work independently and travel extensively.
Preferred Background:
Prior experience with OEMs, EPC contractors, or technology licensors serving refinery clients.
Exposure to major refinery accounts such as IOCL, BPCL, HPCL, Reliance, Nayara, etc.
Familiarity with process simulation tools and refinery operation workflows.
MBA (Marketing or Operations) would be an added advantage.
