The Sales Engineer - Fertilizers will be responsible for driving technical sales, business development, and customer relationship management in the fertilizer segment. The role requires a strong understanding of fertilizer chemistry, process engineering, and plant operations, along with proven sales and client management experience in B2B (industrial) fertilizer markets.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Sales & Business Development
Identify, develop, and manage business opportunities with fertilizer manufacturers, distributors, and large agribusiness clients.
Achieve assigned sales targets and market share objectives.
Conduct regular market visits to build and sustain long-term customer relationships.
Negotiate commercial terms and close technical sales deals.
2. Technical Support & Application Engineering
Provide technical consultation to customers regarding fertilizer process optimization, product formulations, and plant efficiency improvements.
Liaise with R&D and production teams to tailor solutions for specific client needs.
Conduct product trials, demonstrations, and performance evaluations at customer sites.
Offer after-sales technical service to ensure product satisfaction and process sustainability.
3. Market Analysis & Strategy
Monitor market trends, competitor activities, and pricing strategies.
Prepare market intelligence reports and recommend strategic actions.
Identify new applications and opportunities in fertilizer and allied chemical markets.
4. Customer Relationship Management
Maintain strong relationships with key decision-makers, plant heads, and procurement teams.
Ensure timely resolution of customer queries, complaints, and technical issues.
5. Reporting & Documentation
Prepare and submit monthly sales reports, forecasts, and pipeline updates.
Maintain accurate CRM records and documentation for all client interactions.
Required Skills & Competencies:
Strong knowledge of fertilizer chemistry, process engineering, and plant operations.
Proven technical sales experience in fertilizers, agrochemicals, or process chemicals.
Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
Ability to translate complex technical data into business solutions.
Customer-centric mindset with a focus on long-term partnerships.
Proficiency in MS Office, CRM tools, and data analysis.
Preferred Background:
Experience with fertilizer intermediates (e.g., ammonia, phosphates, urea, NPK compounds).
Exposure to process equipment, additives, or performance chemicals used in fertilizer manufacturing.
Previous roles in Sales, Application Engineering, or Technical Services.
Willingness to travel extensively within assigned territory.
