A Sales Officer in the foundry sector is responsible for generating business opportunities, maintaining strong customer relationships, and promoting foundry products (castings, alloys, cores, moulds, or related consumables). The role bridges technical knowledge with sales expertise to ensure customer satisfaction and market growth.
1. Business Development & Sales
Identify new clients in industries like automotive, heavy machinery, railways, pumps, valves, and construction equipment.
Achieve sales targets by promoting foundry products and solutions.
Conduct market surveys to understand demand, pricing trends, and competitor activities.
Prepare and present quotations, negotiate terms, and close orders.
2. Customer Relationship Management
Build and maintain long-term relations with OEMs, dealers, and distributors.
Provide pre-sales and post-sales support to ensure customer satisfaction.
Address customer queries, complaints, and coordinate with production/quality teams for resolutions.
3. Technical Support
Understand foundry processes (moulding, melting, fettling, heat treatment, etc.) to explain product applications to customers.
Suggest suitable grades of castings, alloys, or consumables as per client requirements.
Coordinate with the design/technical department to provide customized solutions.
4. Coordination with Internal Teams
Work closely with production, planning, and dispatch teams to ensure timely delivery of castings and consumables.
Provide market feedback to R&D for product improvements.
Track order status and update customers accordingly.
5. Reporting & Documentation
Maintain sales records, customer database, and order pipeline in ERP/CRM.
Submit periodic sales reports, forecasts, and competitor analysis to management.
Handle documentation related to quotations, purchase orders, invoices, and dispatch.
6. Market Expansion
Explore new markets for foundry products domestically and internationally.
Participate in trade fairs, exhibitions, and industry seminars.
Develop dealer/agent networks for wider reach.
Skills Required:
Knowledge of foundry processes and metallurgy.
Strong communication & negotiation skills.
Customer handling & relationship management.
Basic ERP/CRM software knowledge.
Ability to travel frequently for client visits.
