The Safety Incharge will be responsible for developing, implementing, and monitoring safety protocols to ensure compliance with legal regulations and industry standards. The role focuses on accident prevention, risk assessment, emergency response, and fostering a culture of safety across all levels of the tyre recycling operations. Industry Tyre / Rubber / Chemical Manufacturing Safety Planning and Policy Implementation 1. Develop and enforce safety policies and procedures in accordance with local, state, and federal regulations. 2. Conduct regular reviews and updates to safety manuals, work instructions, and emergency response plans. 3. Ensure safety considerations are integrated into all operational activities including pyrolysis, shredding, steel extraction, and carbon black handling. Compliance and Risk Management 1. Monitor compliance with occupational safety standards such as OSHA, Factory Act, Environment Protection Act, and other relevant laws. 2. Conduct regular risk assessments and hazard identification (e.g., HIRA, JSA) for machinery, chemical storage, and waste handling. 3. Implement control measures to mitigate risks, including use of PPE, ventilation, fire suppression systems, and lockout/tagout procedures. Training and Awareness 1. Design and deliver safety training programs for employees, contractors, and visitors. 2. Conduct toolbox talks, safety drills, and awareness campaigns to improve safety culture. 3. Maintain training records and ensure certifications (e.g., fire safety, first aid) are up to date. Incident Management 1. Investigate all incidents, near-misses, and occupational illnesses; document findings and recommend corrective actions. 2. Maintain incident records and report as per regulatory and internal requirements. 3. Lead root cause analysis using methodologies like 5
Audits and Inspections 1. Conduct regular site inspections and internal safety audits. 2. Coordinate external audits with government agencies or third-party assessors. 3. Ensure all safety equipment (fire extinguishers, emergency showers, eye wash stations) are maintained and inspected regularly. Emergency Preparedness 1. Develop and maintain emergency response and disaster management plans. 2. Coordinate fire drills, evacuation drills, and first-aid preparedness programs. 3. Liaise with local emergency services (factory inspector, DISH, fire department, medical) as necessary. Environmental Safety (EHS Focus) 1. Ensure proper handling and disposal of hazardous wastes generated from tyre recycling (e.g., oil, carbon black, gases). 2. Monitor air, water, and noise pollution levels in compliance with local environmental norms. 3. Promote sustainable practices and energy conservation initiatives. Key Results Area (KRA) 1. Reduction in incidents/accidents (TRIR, LTIFR) 2. Compliance score in internal and external audits 3. Safety training completion rate 4. Number of unsafe conditions reported and resolved 5. Readiness score during emergency drills Experience 1. Min. 5 years of experience in similar role / industry. 2. Strong knowledge of HSE laws and best practices. 3. Proficient in safety risk assessments and incident investigation. 4. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. 5. Competency in MS Office and HSE software/tools. 6.
