The Safety Officer is responsible for ensuring a safe and compliant working environment within the shipyard. The role involves implementing safety policies, monitoring work practices, conducting inspections, and promoting a strong safety culture among all personnel engaged in shipbuilding, repair, and maintenance operations.
Key Responsibilities:
Implement and monitor compliance with safety rules, procedures, and regulations at the shipyard.
Conduct daily site inspections and identify unsafe acts, conditions, and potential hazards.
Ensure all personnel use appropriate PPE and follow established safety protocols.
Investigate accidents, incidents, and near-misses, and prepare detailed reports with corrective actions.
Conduct toolbox talks, safety training, and awareness programs for workers and supervisors.
Maintain and update safety records, permits, and inspection reports.
Coordinate with project managers, supervisors, and client safety teams to ensure safe execution of work.
Verify work permits (hot work, confined space entry, lifting operations, etc.) before job commencement.
Support emergency preparedness activities including drills and first-aid coordination.
Promote continuous improvement in health, safety, and environmental performance.
Qualifications and Experience:
Diploma or Degree in Engineering or Industrial Safety.
Certification in
NEBOSH / IOSH / OSHA / Diploma in Industrial Safety
(mandatory/preferred as per client requirement).
3-5 years of experience as a Safety Officer in
shipbuilding, oil & gas, or heavy engineering industries
.
Knowledge of shipyard safety standards, risk assessment, and incident investigation.
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: ₹18,000.00 - ₹30,000.00 per month
