to join our Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) team. This entry-level trainee role is ideal for individuals starting their career in occupational health and safety. You will receive on-the-job training and support from senior safety professionals while assisting in promoting a safe working environment, ensuring compliance with safety regulations, and preventing workplace incidents.
The primary goal of this position is to support the implementation of safety programs, learn risk assessment techniques, and contribute to fostering a culture of safety within the organization.
Key Responsibilities
Assist in conducting regular workplace inspections to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance with occupational health and safety (OHS) guidelines.
Support senior safety officers in performing risk assessments and recommending preventative measures.
Help organize and participate in safety training sessions for employees on topics such as proper use of equipment, emergency procedures, and safe working practices.
Aid in investigating minor incidents or near-misses, documenting findings, and assisting with root cause analysis.
Maintain safety records, prepare basic reports on safety performance, and update documentation as needed.
Support the development and implementation of OHS policies and programs under supervision.
Assist in appointing and coordinating with departmental safety representatives.
Monitor compliance with safety standards and report any non-compliance issues to supervisors.
Participate in safety audits and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
Stay updated on relevant safety legislation and communicate changes to the team.
Qualifications and Requirements
Bachelor's degree or diploma in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field (preferred; fresh graduates are encouraged to apply).
Basic knowledge of health and safety regulations (e.g., OSHA, local OHS standards) is an advantage but not required--training will be provided
Strong communication and interpersonal skills to interact with employees at all levels.
Excellent observation skills and attention to detail.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) for reporting and documentation.
Ability to work in a team environment and eagerness to learn.
Physical fitness to conduct site inspections (may involve walking, climbing, or working in various environments).
No prior experience required; this is an entry-level trainee position open to recent graduates or those with minimal experience.
