The Safety Officer is responsible for ensuring a safe working environment at construction sites by implementing HSE policies, monitoring compliance, and enforcing statutory safety standards as per company and legal requirements.
Roles & Responsibilities
Implement and enforce safety policies, procedures, and guidelines at construction sites.
Conduct daily safety inspections and identify unsafe acts and conditions.
Ensure compliance with statutory requirements.
Conduct safety induction, toolbox talks, and regular safety training programs.
Ensure proper use of PPE by all employees, contractors, and visitors.
Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses; prepare reports and corrective actions.
Maintain safety records, permits, registers, and statutory documentation.
Coordinate with site engineers, contractors, and management on safety matters.
Ensure availability and maintenance of fire-fighting equipment, first-aid kits, signage, and barricading.
Support safety audits and inspections by internal and external authorities.
Qualifications
Diploma / Degree in Safety Engineering or equivalent.
Professional certification preferred.
Skills
Strong knowledge of construction safety practices and statutory compliance.
Good communication and training skills.
Ability to work independently at site locations.
