To ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations and to promote a strong safety culture on high-rise construction sites. The Safety Officer will oversee the implementation of HSE policies, conduct risk assessments, and provide training to ensure the safety of workers, subcontractors, and visitors.
Key Responsibilities
Safety Planning & Compliance
Implement and monitor the company's HSE policies, procedures, and programs on high-rise construction sites.
Ensure compliance with local occupational health and safety laws, building codes, and client requirements.
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of safety legislation and industry best practices for high-rise projects.
Risk Assessment & Hazard Control
Conduct job safety analyses (JSA) and risk assessments for activities such as scaffolding, formwork, crane operations, facade works, and working at height.
Identify potential hazards and recommend preventive and corrective actions.
Ensure appropriate safety measures for high-rise-specific risks (e.g., falling objects, tower crane safety, hoist operations).
Training & Awareness
Deliver safety induction programs for new workers and subcontractors.
Conduct toolbox talks, safety drills, and refresher training, especially for working-at-height procedures.
Promote safety culture and worker engagement through campaigns and awareness programs.
Site Inspection & Monitoring
Perform daily safety inspections to ensure proper use of PPE, adherence to safe work procedures, and proper housekeeping.
Monitor scaffolding, lift shafts, edge protection, and fall arrest systems to ensure compliance.
Ensure safety signage and barricades are in place and maintained.
Incident Reporting & Investigation
Report and investigate accidents, near-misses, and unsafe conditions.
Maintain accurate safety records and prepare regular HSE performance reports.
Recommend measures to prevent recurrence of incidents.
Coordination & Communication
Liaise with project managers, engineers, and subcontractors to ensure safety is integrated into planning and execution.
Coordinate with emergency services in case of incidents.
Participate in safety meetings with management and client representatives.
Qualifications & Experience
Diploma/Degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Civil Engineering, or related field.
NEBOSH IGC, IOSH, OSHA certification, or equivalent is
mandatory
.
Minimum
4years' experience
as a Safety Officer in construction, with at least
2 years in high-rise building projects
.
Knowledge of high-rise-specific safety measures, including tower crane operations, facade installation, and fall protection systems.
Strong understanding of local safety regulations and international best practices.
Good communication, leadership, and reporting skills.
