Job Summary:
The Safety Officer is responsible for overseeing, implementing, and ensuring safety regulations are adhered to within the workplace. This role involves developing, monitoring, and enforcing health and safety policies and procedures to minimize accidents, injuries, and environmental hazards. The Safety Officer conducts regular inspections, prepares reports, and educates employees on safe work practices.

Key Responsibilities:
Safety Compliance:
Ensure that the company complies with local, state, and federal health and safety regulations. Stay updated on safety laws, industry standards, and best practices.
Risk Assessment & Hazard Identification:
Conduct regular risk assessments and safety audits across various work environments. Identify potential hazards, unsafe practices, and conditions that could pose health and safety risks.
Training & Education:
Develop and deliver safety training programs to employees on topics such as workplace safety, emergency procedures, first aid, and equipment use. Ensure all workers are properly trained and aware of safety protocols.
Incident Investigation:
Investigate workplace accidents, incidents, or near-misses, identifying causes and implementing corrective actions. Maintain detailed records of investigations and outcomes.
Emergency Response Planning:
Develop, implement, and regularly review emergency response plans. Ensure the workplace is equipped with proper safety equipment, including fire extinguishers, first aid kits, and emergency exit routes.
Safety Equipment and Supplies Management:
Monitor and maintain safety equipment, personal protective equipment (PPE), and other necessary supplies. Ensure the proper usage, inspection, and maintenance of equipment.
Reporting and Documentation:
Prepare and submit safety reports to management, regulatory bodies, or other stakeholders. Document safety training, inspections, and incident investigations.
Safety Inspections:
Perform regular safety inspections of the workplace, machinery, and equipment to ensure compliance with safety standards and regulations. Provide feedback and recommend improvements.
Safety Culture Promotion:
Foster a culture of safety and health throughout the organization, encouraging employees to prioritize safety and report hazards or concerns without fear of retaliation.
Regulatory Audits:
Prepare for and facilitate external safety audits by regulatory agencies. Ensure that any non-compliance issues are promptly addressed and corrected.
Qualifications:
Education:
A bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, Industrial Hygiene, or a related field. Relevant certifications such as NEBOSH, OSHA (or equivalent) are highly preferred.
Experience:
Minimum 3 years of experience in a safety officer or related role, preferably in manufacturingindustry.
Certifications & Training:
Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH), or other relevant certifications preferred.
Skills & Abilities:
o Strong knowledge of health and safety regulations and practices.
o Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
o Ability to conduct thorough investigations and write detailed reports.
o Proficient in using safety management software and tools.
o Problem-solving skills and the ability to make decisions quickly in emergency situations.
o Strong attention to detail and the ability to identify potential hazards.
