To ensure the implementation of health, safety, and environmental (HSE) policies, procedures, and practices at interior fit-out project sites. The Safety Officer is responsible for preventing accidents, promoting safety awareness, and ensuring compliance with statutory regulations and client requirements.
Key Responsibilities
:
1. Safety Compliance & Inspections
Conduct daily site safety inspections to ensure adherence to HSE standards and regulations.
Monitor and evaluate workplace environments, equipment, and practices to ensure compliance with safety standards.
Ensure all fit-out activities (civil, electrical, carpentry, MEP, etc.) are carried out safely.
2. Risk Assessment & Control
Identify potential hazards, assess risks, and implement preventive measures.
Prepare Job Safety Analysis (JSA) and Method Statements for high-risk activities.
Maintain updated risk registers for all ongoing site activities.
3. Safety Training & Awareness
Conduct safety inductions for new workers and toolbox talks regularly.
Promote a culture of safety through awareness campaigns and training sessions.
Ensure all workers are equipped with the necessary PPE and trained in its proper usage.
4. Incident Reporting & Investigation
Report and record all accidents, incidents, and near-misses immediately.
Conduct incident investigations, root cause analysis, and suggest corrective/preventive actions.
Maintain incident and injury logs and share reports with management.
5. Documentation & Reporting
Maintain safety files, permits, registers, inspection checklists, and daily HSE reports.
Ensure safety signage, evacuation plans, and emergency contact numbers are posted on-site.
Coordinate with client representatives and consultants during safety audits.
6. Emergency Preparedness
Implement site emergency response plans including fire drills, evacuation procedures, and first-aid support.
Coordinate with medical teams and emergency services in case of serious incidents.
Qualifications & Experience
:
Education
: Diploma/Degree in Engineering or Science + Safety Certification (NEBOSH IGC, IOSH, OSHA or equivalent).
Experience
: Minimum 2-5 years of experience in HSE role, preferably in the interior fit-out or construction industry.
Familiarity with local HSE regulations, IS codes, and client safety standards.
Key Skills
:
Strong knowledge of safety procedures in interior fit-out environments.
Good communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work under pressure and handle multiple sites if required.
Proficient in MS Office and HSE documentation.
