: Safety Officer



Job Summary:

The Safety Officer will be responsible for ensuring that all workplace practices, equipment, and employee behaviours comply with safety standards, legal regulations, and the company's internal policies. The role involves monitoring, implementing, and enhancing occupational health, safety, and environmental (HSE) programs to reduce risks and maintain a safe workplace. The Safety Officer works in close coordination with operations, maintenance, HR, and management teams to create a strong safety culture across the manufacturing facility.

Key Roles and Responsibilities

Compliance and Policy Management



Ensure adherence to national, state, and local occupational health and safety regulations.

Develop, update, and enforce workplace safety policies, procedures, and guidelines in line with statutory requirements.

Maintain up-to-date knowledge of OSHA, Factories Act, ISO standards, and other relevant HSE legislation.

Liaise with regulatory authorities during inspections, audits, and compliance reporting.

Risk Assessment and Hazard Control



Conduct thorough risk assessments across machinery, work processes, and hazardous materials.

Identify potential areas of concern and recommend corrective measures to eliminate or mitigate risks.

Perform Job Safety Analysis (JSA) for critical tasks and high-risk operations.

Establish and monitor Control of Substances Hazardous to Health (COSHH) measures.

Training and Awareness



Plan and deliver safety induction programs for new employees, apprentices, and contractors.

Conduct periodic training sessions and workshops on fire safety, first aid, PPE usage, chemical handling, and emergency preparedness.

Promote a culture of safety awareness through campaigns, posters, toolbox talks, and safety drills.

Audits, Inspections, and Reporting



Perform daily site safety inspections to check compliance with PPE, housekeeping, and machine guarding.

Prepare and submit monthly safety performance reports and dashboards to management.

Investigate unsafe acts/conditions and initiate immediate corrective actions.

Coordinate with the audit team during internal and external HSE audits.

Incident and Accident Management



Lead investigations into workplace incidents, accidents, and near-misses.

Record findings, root cause analyses, and implement preventive measures to avoid recurrence.

Maintain and update incident/accident registers as per statutory requirements.

Assist injured employees with the proper reporting and claim filing processes.

Facility Management



Supervising and training the House keeping staff and contractors.

Liaising with internal and external stakeholders to ensure smooth operations and customer satisfaction.

They are responsible for managing vendor contracts, ensuring the organization gets the best value for its money

They are responsible for managing various projects, such as office layout, desk arrangements, space utilization, office relocations, renovations, and refurbishments and its maintenance.

Conducting regular inspections and audits to assess the condition and performance of Infrastructure.

Emergency Preparedness



Develop and maintain emergency response plans and protocols for fire, chemical spills, equipment failure, or natural disasters.

Organize mock drills, fire evacuation exercises, and first-aid simulations on a routine basis.

Ensure firefighting equipment, alarms, detectors, and emergency exits are always functional and compliant.

Environmental Safety



Monitor safe disposal of industrial waste, chemicals, and hazardous materials as per environmental guidelines.

Ensure air, noise, and water quality levels comply with established limits.

Collaborate on sustainability projects, such as energy efficiency and waste reduction initiatives.

Collaboration and Leadership



Work closely with line managers, supervisors, and employees to instil safe work habits.

Act as the first point of contact for safety queries across all departments.

Engage employees in corrective action planning and empower them to take ownership of safety.

Support occupational health initiatives, including routine medical check-ups and ergonomics management.

Educational Qualifications & Requirements



Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Engineering, or a related field.

Certification in Occupational Health and Safety (NEBOSH/IOSH or equivalent) preferred.

Minimum 3-5 years of safety management experience in the manufacturing sector.

Strong knowledge of OSHA/Factories Act, ISO 45001, and EHS management systems.

Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.

Proficiency in MS Office and safety management software applications.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: ₹35,000.00 - ₹50,000.00 per month
