2. Key Responsibilities
A. Safety Management & Compliance
Implement, monitor, and continuously improve the plant's Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) policies and procedures.
Ensure compliance with applicable
local, state, and national safety regulations
(e.g., Factories Act, OSHA, ISO 45001, etc.).
Conduct regular inspections of machinery, equipment, and work areas to identify and mitigate potential hazards.
Maintain updated records of statutory safety documentation, such as safety audits, inspection reports, and training logs.
B. Risk Assessment & Control
Carry out
Job Safety Analysis (JSA)

Risk Assessments
, and
Hazard Identification Studies (HAZID)
for all critical operations.
Recommend engineering and administrative controls to eliminate or minimize hazards.
Monitor implementation of safety control measures for high-risk activities like welding, cutting, confined space entry, material handling, etc.
C. Training & Awareness
Plan and conduct regular

for new employees and contractors.
Organize
toolbox talks

D. Incident Management

and recommend corrective & preventive actions (CAPA).
Ensure timely reporting of incidents to management and statutory authorities as per requirements.
E. Emergency Preparedness
Develop, implement, and periodically test
Emergency Response Plans (ERP)
for fire, chemical spill, or structural emergencies.
Conduct
mock drills
and ensure proper functioning of fire protection systems and emergency equipment.
Coordinate with local fire, medical, and rescue authorities for external support during emergencies.
F. Safety Audits & Documentation
Conduct internal and external
HSE audits
and follow up on action plans.
Maintain and update all
Safety Data Sheets (SDS)

Permit to Work (PTW)
records, and inspection checklists.
Support the HSE Manager in preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual safety performance reports (KPIs, LTIs, TRIR, etc.).

Technical Skills

5. Educational Qualifications
Minimum:

NEBOSH / IOSH / OSHA Certification
Fire Safety or First Aid Training Certification
6. Experience
Experience Range:
3 - 8 years (depending on plant size and complexity)
Industry Preference:
Manufacturing, Fabrication, Heavy Engineering, Steel, Foundry, or Metal Works
7. Working Conditions
Primarily plant-based with extensive field supervision
Exposure to noise, dust, heat, and moving machinery
Must wear appropriate PPE and enforce PPE compliance among all personnel
8. Reporting & Coordination
Reports directly to the HSE Manager or Factory Manager
Coordinates with Production, Maintenance, Quality, and HR departments for safety compliance
Liaises with external agencies like fire department, pollution control board, and labor authorities when required
