Job descriptionFire Safety Officer
To ensure the safety of employees, assets, and property by implementing, monitoring, and maintaining effective fire prevention and fire protection systems in compliance with statutory regulations, company policies, and industry best practices.
Key Responsibilities:
Fire Prevention & Safety Management
Develop, implement, and maintain fire safety policies, procedures, and emergency response plans.
Conduct fire risk assessments, identify hazards, and recommend corrective actions.
Ensure availability, inspection, and maintenance of fire extinguishers, hydrants, sprinklers, alarms, and other firefighting systems.
Compliance & Audits
Ensure compliance with local fire safety regulations, factory acts, and statutory guidelines.
Coordinate with government authorities like Fire Department, Factory Inspector, and Pollution Control Board during inspections.
Maintain fire safety records, permits, and documentation.
Training & Awareness
Conduct regular fire safety training, mock drills, and emergency evacuation exercises.
Educate employees on fire prevention practices and safe use of firefighting equipment.
Emergency Preparedness & Response
Act as the first responder during fire or emergency situations.
Lead the emergency response team and coordinate with external fire services.
Ensure proper signage, emergency exits, and evacuation routes are maintained and accessible.
Monitoring & Reporting
Carry out regular fire safety inspections and audits of the premises.
Prepare incident/accident/fire reports and recommend preventive measures.
Continuously review and upgrade fire safety systems and procedures.
Key Skills & Competencies:
Strong knowledge of fire safety codes, regulations, and emergency procedures.
Hands-on experience in firefighting systems, alarms, hydrants, and extinguishers.
Leadership skills to guide firefighting teams and employees in emergencies.
Good communication and training ability.
Analytical and problem-solving skills for hazard identification and mitigation.
Qualification & Experience:
Diploma/Degree in Fire & Safety Engineering / Industrial Safety / Equivalent.
Certification from recognized Fire Safety Institute preferred.
3-8 years of experience in fire safety management (preferably in automobile/manufacturing/industrial setup).
