Job Description

Job Purpose:

To ensure that all construction activities at the site comply with statutory safety regulations, company policies, and client requirements. The Safety Officer - Civil will monitor, implement, and improve safety systems and procedures to maintain a safe and accident-free work environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Monitor day-to-day civil construction activities to ensure compliance with HSE standards and statutory requirements. Conduct regular site inspections and audits to identify hazards, unsafe practices, and recommend corrective actions. Ensure all personnel on-site adhere to PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) requirements. Develop, implement, and review Job Safety Analysis (JSA) and Risk Assessments for all critical activities. Conduct toolbox talks, safety inductions, and training sessions for site workers and subcontractors. Maintain records of safety inspections, incidents, near-misses, and corrective actions. Investigate accidents and incidents to determine root causes and prepare detailed reports. Coordinate with site engineers, supervisors, and subcontractors to ensure HSE compliance. Assist in emergency preparedness and response planning, including conducting mock drills. Ensure compliance with local statutory requirements such as Factories Act, BOCW (Building and Other Construction Workers) Act, and other applicable regulations. Promote a culture of safety awareness and continuous improvement among site personnel.

Qualifications & Experience:

Diploma / Degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent. Certification in Industrial Safety / NEBOSH / IOSH / Diploma in Safety Management preferred. Minimum 3-5 years of experience in HSE within the civil construction industry (infrastructure, buildings, roads, etc.). Good knowledge of national and international safety standards (ISO 45001, OSHA, etc.). Experience in developing and implementing HSE procedures, incident investigation, and risk assessment. Proficient in MS Office and report documentation.
