Role Objective:
We are seeking an experienced and proactive Industrial Safety Manager with 6-8 years of experience in manufacturing plants. The ideal candidate should have expertise in setting up factory safety systems, conducting safety audits, and ensuring compliance with industry standards. The candidate should have thorough knowledge of OSHAS, EMS 14001, and be capable of driving safety initiatives, maintaining safety protocols, and leading audits to ensure the highest levels of safety and compliance within the organization.
Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
Develop, implement, and maintain safety policies, procedures, and systems for the manufacturing facility to ensure a safe working environment.
Lead and coordinate safety audits, ensuring compliance with all legal, regulatory, and industry safety standards, including OSHAS and EMS 14001.
Set up and manage all factory safety setups, including emergency procedures, fire safety measures, and hazard identification systems.
Conduct regular safety inspections and risk assessments to identify potential hazards and recommend corrective actions.
Ensure that all necessary safety documentation, including safety data sheets, risk assessments, and emergency protocols, is up-to-date and accessible.
Lead training sessions for all employees on safety procedures, emergency responses, and health and safety regulations.
Drive safety awareness programs and foster a safety-first culture throughout the organization.
Ensure the maintenance of safety equipment and systems, including fire extinguishers, emergency exits, and first aid kits.
Manage the implementation of safety standards across various departments, including machine shops, assembly lines, and other manufacturing processes.
Ensure compliance with environmental safety standards and regulations, as per EMS 14001 guidelines.
Work closely with senior management to provide regular reports on safety performance, audits, and areas for improvement.
Investigate safety incidents and accidents, perform root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions to prevent future occurrences.
Ensure compliance with all relevant safety regulations and certifications and stay updated on changes to safety laws.
Lead internal and external safety audits and manage relationships with regulatory bodies and certification agencies.
Education & Experience:
Bachelor's or master's degree in safety engineering, Industrial Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or a related field.
6-8 years of experience in industrial safety, having worked in manufacturing plants.
In-depth knowledge of safety regulations and standards, including OSHAS 18001, EMS 14001, and other relevant compliance frameworks.
Proven experience in setting up and maintaining safety systems and processes in a manufacturing environment.
Expertise in conducting safety audits, risk assessments, and hazard analysis.
Strong understanding of factory setups, emergency response protocols, and safety equipment management.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills to deliver effective safety training and awareness programs.
Ability to lead safety initiatives and maintain a safety-first culture within the organization.
Familiarity with environmental and health safety management systems and the ability to integrate them into the plant operations.
Preferred Skills & Certifications:
Certification in Occupational Health and Safety (NEBOSH, IOSH) or similar safety management certifications.
Experience in EMS 14001 certification and environmental safety compliance.
Familiarity with Lean, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement methodologies applied to safety.
Working Conditions:
Full-time position based in Bangalore, India, with occasional evening or weekend work.
Some travel may be required for site visits, audits, or meetings.
