The Safety Officer will be responsible for ensuring a safe working environment at both the precast manufacturing facility and construction sites. This role involves enforcing safety regulations, conducting audits, promoting safety awareness, and ensuring compliance with local and international safety standards. The Safety Officer will play a key role in minimizing workplace accidents and maintaining a culture of safety.
Key Responsibilities:
Health & Safety Management:
Develop, implement, and monitor HSE policies and procedures in compliance with local laws, client requirements, and international standards (ISO 45001, OSHA, etc.).
Conduct regular site inspections, risk assessments, and safety audits at the precast plant and construction sites.
Identify potential hazards and recommend preventive measures.
Ensure all employees are trained in proper safety procedures and emergency response plans.
Maintain records of incidents, near misses, and safety audits; prepare reports for management.
Coordinate with management to implement corrective and preventive actions.
Training & Awareness:
Organize safety training sessions, toolbox talks, and awareness programs for staff and subcontractors.
Promote a safety-first culture across all departments.
Monitor compliance with PPE usage and other safety protocols.
Emergency & Compliance:
Respond to accidents and incidents; conduct investigations and recommend corrective actions.
Ensure compliance with fire safety, electrical safety, machinery safety, and environmental regulations.
Liaise with government authorities and clients regarding safety inspections and audits.
Monitor contractors' and vendors' compliance with safety regulations.
Qualifications and Skills:
Bachelor's Degree/Diploma in Safety Management, Civil Engineering, or related field.
5-10 years of experience in HSE in the
precast concrete or construction industry
.
Strong knowledge of local safety laws and international safety standards.
Familiarity with risk assessment, incident investigation, and emergency preparedness.
Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
Proficient in MS Office and safety reporting software.
Preferred Certifications:
NEBOSH Certificate / Diploma or equivalent.
OSHA certification.
First Aid and Fire Safety Training certification.
ISO 45001 Lead Auditor (preferred).
