Job Description

Job Purpose:


To ensure the highest standards of health, safety, and environmental (HSE) compliance in transformer manufacturing operations, particularly in electrical and high-voltage areas, as per statutory and regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Compliance & Regulatory Adherence:

Ensure compliance with all factory safety laws, electrical safety regulations, and transformer manufacturing industry standards (e.g., IS, IEC, OSHA, NFPA standards). Maintain and update safety documentation as per statutory requirements.

2. Electrical & High-Voltage Safety:

Develop and implement electrical safety protocols for high-voltage testing, winding, assembly, and transformer oil handling. Ensure Lockout-Tagout (LOTO), grounding, and safe isolation practices are strictly followed. Monitor short-circuit withstand test safety, dielectric test safety, and high-voltage testing areas.

3. Risk Assessment & Audits:

Conduct Job Safety Analysis (JSA) and Hazard Identification & Risk Assessment (HIRA) specifically for transformer assembly lines, tank fabrication, and testing bays. Perform regular safety audits, inspections, and electrical hazard assessments in the plant.

4. Incident Prevention & Investigation:

Investigate electrical and occupational accidents, prepare root cause analysis (RCA), and ensure corrective and preventive actions (CAPA). Maintain incident and near-miss reporting systems.

5. Training & Awareness:

Conduct safety induction and regular training programs for employees and contractors on: Electrical safety in high-voltage environments Safe handling of transformer oil, chemicals, and hot work permits Firefighting and emergency response Promote a strong safety culture among workers and management.

6. Emergency Preparedness:

Develop and implement emergency response plans for electrical accidents, transformer oil fire hazards, and high-voltage incidents. Ensure the availability and proper maintenance of firefighting systems, PPE, and first-aid equipment.

7. Coordination & Reporting:

Liaise with statutory authorities during inspections. Submit regular safety performance reports to management.

Qualification & Experience:

Educational Qualification: Degree in Electrical Engineering with a recognized Industrial Safety Certification (e.g., NEBOSH, IOSH, Diploma in Industrial Safety). Experience: 5+ years in HSE, preferably in transformer manufacturing or heavy electrical equipment industry.

Key Skills:

Strong knowledge of electrical hazard management and industrial safety practices. Hands-on experience in LOTO, HIRA, PTW (Permit to Work) systems. Good communication & training skills. Analytical approach for risk assessment and incident investigation.

Work Conditions:

Plant-based role, involving frequent visits to shop floor, testing bays, and fabrication areas. * May involve extended working hours during high-voltage testing or critical operations.
