Job Purpose

:

The Safety Engineer is responsible for ensuring the health, safety, and environmental compliance of the workplace. This includes identifying potential hazards, developing safety protocols, implementing safety programs, conducting safety audits, and ensuring that safety regulations are adhered to in all work areas.

Key Responsibilities

:

Safety Audits & Inspections

: Conduct regular safety audits and inspections across the facility to identify potential hazards. Ensure that all equipment and machinery meet safety standards and guidelines. Prepare detailed reports on findings and recommend corrective actions.

Develop and Implement Safety Procedures

: Develop and implement workplace safety policies and procedures in compliance with local regulations and industry standards. Create emergency evacuation plans, safety drills, and response procedures. Promote the importance of safety measures across all departments.

Risk Assessment

: Conduct risk assessments to identify safety hazards associated with various tasks and equipment. Provide recommendations for safety improvements and ensure the proper risk controls are in place.

Training and Awareness

: Provide safety training to employees on procedures, equipment handling, and emergency protocols. Conduct regular safety workshops, seminars, and first aid training sessions. Ensure that all staff is aware of and adheres to safety policies.

Compliance and Reporting

: Ensure compliance with national and international safety standards, such as OSHA, ANSI, or local safety regulations. Maintain records of safety inspections, incidents, and corrective actions. Prepare and submit safety reports to regulatory bodies or upper management.

Incident Investigation

: Investigate safety incidents and accidents to determine root causes. Prepare incident reports and recommend preventive measures to avoid recurrence.

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) Management

: Ensure proper use and availability of PPE across the workplace. Monitor and enforce the correct usage of safety equipment, ensuring it meets required standards.

Environmental Safety

: Monitor environmental factors related to safety, including air quality, noise levels, and hazardous materials. Implement practices for waste management and sustainable safety measures.

Continuous Improvement

: Stay up-to-date on safety regulations and best practices. Recommend and implement continuous improvements in the safety management system.

Qualifications and Skills

:

Education

: Diploma in Safety Management, Occupational Health & Safety, or a related field. Certifications such as NEBOSH (National Examination Board in Occupational Safety and Health) or IOSH (Institution of Occupational Safety and Health) are a plus.

Experience

: Previous experience in a safety-related role, preferably in an industrial, manufacturing, or construction environment. Familiarity with local safety regulations and compliance standards.

Skills

: Strong knowledge of safety regulations and risk assessment methods. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Problem-solving and critical thinking abilities. Ability to train and engage employees on safety protocols. Attention to detail and ability to analyze data and reports.

Technical Skills

: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Familiarity with safety management software and tools.

Physical Requirements

:

Ability to walk, stand, and inspect facilities for long periods. Ability to lift or move equipment and materials when necessary.

Work Environment

:

The role may require working in a variety of environments, including office settings, production floors, and outdoor locations. Occasionally, the role may involve exposure to hazardous materials or equipment, and the use of protective gear will be required.
