The Safety Engineer - Civil is responsible for implementing, monitoring, and enforcing health, safety, and environmental (HSE) standards on construction sites. The role ensures compliance with local regulations, company policies, and international safety standards to maintain a safe working environment for all site personnel.
Key Responsibilities
Implement and enforce site health, safety, and environmental (HSE) plans
Conduct regular site safety inspections and risk assessments
Identify hazards and recommend corrective and preventive actions
Ensure compliance with statutory safety regulations and company policies
Monitor high-risk activities such as excavation, lifting, working at height, and formwork
Conduct safety inductions, toolbox talks, and training sessions
Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses; prepare reports
Ensure proper use of PPE and safety equipment on site
Coordinate with project managers, engineers, and subcontractors on safety matters
Review method statements and risk assessments (MSRA)
Maintain HSE documentation, records, and reports
Liaise with safety auditors, consultants, and regulatory authorities
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree or Diploma in Civil Engineering
Diploma / Degree in Occupational Health & Safety or NEBOSH / IOSH certification (preferred)
